  • Patent number: 7564907
Abstract: A technique for providing secondary data in a single frequency network (SFN) provides a first forward error correcting (FEC) decoder for decoding a received coded orthogonal frequency division multiplex (COFDM) signal. A second FEC decoder is also provided for decoding a received COFDM signal. When the received COFDM signal includes valid primary data, the first FEC decoder is utilized to decode the received COFDM signal to provide general information, i.e., music, sports, etc. When a received COFDM signal includes valid secondary data, the second FEC decoder is utilized to decode the received COFDM signal to provide regional information, e.g., emergency broadcasting information. The received COFDM signal includes one or more defined COFDM symbols inserted by a transmitter of the COFDM signal to indicate the valid secondary data and the invalid primary data.

  • Patent number: 7561436
Abstract: A circuit assembly containing a surface mount (SM) IC package wire bonded to a substrate and configured to conduct heat from the package into a heat sink through a heat-conducting member instead of the substrate. The package contains an IC device with input/output pads on a surface thereof that are connected with leads to conductors on the substrate. The heat sink is located adjacent the package so as not to be separated from the package by the substrate. The heat-conducting member is positioned adjacent the surface of the device opposite its input/output pads, and is bonded to the device and heat sink to provide a heat path between the package and heat sink that does not pass through the substrate.

  • Patent number: 7551765
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and a system for determining whether a target component of an electronic assembly is assembled correctly. The method of the present invention involves correlating the view of a test electronic assembly with both a positive control image and a negative control image. The positive control image is an image of an electronic assembly that has been assembled properly, whereas the negative control image is an image of an electronic assembly that has been assembled improperly. If the correlation between the test image and the positive control image is greater than the correlation between the test image and the negative control image, the test assembly is assembled properly. On the other hand, if the correlation between the test image and the negative control image is greater than the correlation between the test image and the positive control image, the test assembly is assembled improperly.

  • Patent number: 7537965
Abstract: A leadless multi-chip electronic module with leadframe bond pads is manufactured in a manner to place small signal bond pads in a central region of the module for significantly increased reliability of solder joints between such bond pads and a substrate of the module. A linear array of parallel leadframe elements disposed in a central region of the module and bridging first and second larger IC leadframe bond pads are converted into signal bond pads by a pair of partial bottom-side saw cuts. The saw cuts run parallel to and adjacent the first and second IC bond pads to electrically isolate the leadframe elements from the IC bond pads and other bond pads. The partial saw cuts are made following encapsulation and preferably before leadframe singulation.
