Abstract: A process for inhibiting the corrosion of metals in contact with aqueous systems is provided which process comprises adding to such systems an effective amount of a water treatment composition comprising a source of molybdate ion and a water-soluble polymer containing pendant amide functionality.
Abstract: A pressure sensitive adhesive is prepared by the polymerization of an appropriate acrylic ester formulation of the type that includes an ethylenically unsaturated monomer having a polar group, and at least part of such polymerization is accomplished by photopolymerization using a source of ultraviolet radiation that provides a substantial portion of its ultraviolet radiation in the wavelength band of from about 280 to about 350 nm and a light intensity at the surface of the formuation being polymerized of no more than about 4.0 milliwatts/cm.sup.2.
Abstract: Corrosion inhibition composition formed as a water-external emulsions having an oil soluble organic film forming type of corrosion inhibitor in the dispersed phase thereof are disclosed for downhole well applications, such emulsions having a stability at room temperature without agitation of from 2 to 30 minutes.

Abstract: C.sub.6 -C.sub.14 dicarboxylic acids and blends thereof are excellent for use in high pressure water spray systems for removing metal working compounds swarf and chips from ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Additionally, these compositions provide excellent corrosion inhibition for the cleaned metals.
Abstract: An adhesive system having a pressure-sensitive adhesive matrix and dispersed therein particulate solids wherein the adhesive system has a light transmission within the range of 15 to 80 percent transmission, and preferably 25 to 75 percent transmission. The adhesive system may include a coating of untilled pressure sensitive material. The particulate solids preferably have a particle size no greater than 300 microns, and may be organic particulate solids, preferably certain polymeric compositions.

Abstract: A water clarification process wherein solids are separated by filtration through a porous septum utilizes as a filter precoat a coating of keratin-composition in the form of particles wherein at least 75 weight percent of the particles have a particle size no greater than 2.0 mm. In preferred embodiment, the material to be filtered is first treated with a combination of an organic polymeric flocculant and an organic polymer coagulant.

Alternatively, the cross-linking functionality can be provided by the incorporation of an anionic vinyl addition monomer into the polymer.
