  • Patent number: 8251964
Abstract: The present invention provides a sanitary device having a significant capacity (e.g. 30 c.c.) in an plastic pouch (or envelope) gently attached to the end of the male member by releasable pressure sensitive adhesive across an opening which receives the male member. The pressure sensitive adhesive provides close connection to the skin, provides a fluid closure around the male member, and permits closure with opposing adhesive surfaces of the sanitary device not used to surround the circumference of the inserted male member. A further feature provides flaps, tabs or margins at the sanitary device opening which are foldable over the adhesive to selectably cover some portion or all of the adhesive as may be desired by the wearer.

  • Patent number: 8194089
Abstract: A measurement tool overlay program that after initial placement in or around the object field, automatically identifies (in ‘expand’ mode) any distance between objects by other programs that are displayed on the screen relative to a starting point between the objects. Measures is provided of the dimensions of any object, or group of objects by accessing the picture elements (pixels) in the memory associated with the display screen. Alternate embodiments according to the present invention operate in ‘contract’ mode. In ‘contract’ mode, the present invention also provides the measurements of an end user-placed rectangular boundary around any given object(s), or distance between outside edges of clusters of object(s) immediately. The box will contract to the size (edge) of the area as defined by pixels, which may be part of one or more objects within the area and provide the dimensions automatically.

  • Patent number: 8169103
Abstract: A power mains distribution panel including a data signal coupler providing a data path across multiple circuits therein. The power mains distribution or breaker panel provides mains power distribution from multiple non-neutral (i.e. having a voltage and providing a flow of current relative to each other or a common or neutral wire or virtual point, also called ‘hot’) mains circuits of a single or multiple phase for distribution within the distribution or breaker panel to branch circuits which in turn have a data path therebetween according to the present invention. Also described is a particular data signal coupler which may be used in the embodiments of the power mains distribution panels according to the present invention.

  • Patent number: 8149138
Abstract: A manually operated traffic barrier gate which may economically installed and maintained, and easily operated by a single individual during emergency or other critical situations. One embodiment comprises a permanently mounted barrier gate movable from a retracted, upright position to lowered position extended to bridge a preselected traffic path, wherein the gate is counterbalanced to stay in the upright position until deployed, and to be balanced to stay in the deployed state when extended. The barrier gate are operable by one person and includes locking devices to maintain their stored upright or deployed lowered position. A further embodiment of the present invention provides a dual mobile gate which may be towed singly or in a chain (dual gate one behind the other), in a retracted length to the desired location, and thereafter be disconnected from the towing vehicle and left at the site to be deployed in an extended manner or retracted and moved as needed.

  • Patent number: 8115470
Abstract: Broadband isotropic (omnidirectional) antenna typically comprising three orthogonal small size monopole antennas protruding through the centers of three adjacent sides of the small metal cube. Each antenna has the frequency correcting network and RF amplifier. Signals from all three antennas are commutated by the RF switch (multiplexer) and the output can be applied to any RF spectrum analyzer. It is shown that if spectrum analyzer sweeps at relatively slow rate or is used in max/hold mode, the resulting display is proportional to the magnitude of the electromagnetic field vector independent of the orientation of the monopole antennas with respect to the E-field direction. Another embodiment improves the circuit accuracy in case when one dominant RF signal is present.

  • Patent number: 8109760
Abstract: A torch, and ignitor or gas valve interlock located on the same part which the operator moves to activate the torch, which is overcome by the operator by providing a tangential rolling force to the interlock as the finger is seated on a downwardly actuated ignitor. The torch ignitor and gas valve interlock according to the present invention requires a skilled, compound motion easily provided by an adult and unlikely to be imposed by accidental gross motions, without diminishing or interfering with the operator's ability to easily operate the ignitor.

  • Patent number: 8097973
Abstract: A circuit and system having an inductive data link from one or more user-side phases to a plurality of line-side phases by individual data transformers having a winding coupled to the particular phase by a high-permeability ferrite material. The resulting connection across the primary (or primaries) and secondary (or secondaries) selectively provides and efficient coupling of data in a multi-phase environment including step-down distribution transformers and “?”-to-“Y” configured circuits while maintaining isolation at the power line frequency. Further embodiments include transfer to selected phases or single-phase applications, and selective signal-pass or -reject filtering.

  • Patent number: 7732031
Abstract: A system including multiple items releasably secured on a smooth carrier sheet having a plurality of, or groups of striations ranging in depth from 5 to 99 percent of the thickness of the carrier sheet. In one exemplary embodiment, a first group of striation includes a plurality of parallel striations oriented generally along one axis, and a second group of striations includes a plurality of parallel striation oriented generally along a second axis. During shipment, the adhesive retains sufficient traction to the carrier sheet by engaging the striations to substantially eliminate the lateral movement or sliding of the items from their original position on the carrier sheet. When removed from the carrier sheet, the adhesive releases from the carrier sheet and remains retained by the items even though the adhesive partially flowed into the carrier sheet striations.

  • Patent number: 7384017
Abstract: A retractable gate comprising a movable arm gate having multiple sections which nest or telescope into each other when parked (e.g. upright), and extends into a full length blocking position as it is deployed. The gate arm sections are deployed by the movement of one of the arms, e.g. the outer one section, relative to the ground or a stationary support member and is joined to the stationary support member by a pivot point or bearing, and is connected to the stationary support or ground by a cable connection (or equivalent) which powers the arm sections into extended or retracted positions by movement of the gate about the pivot bearing. A novel corresponding counterweight system provides selectable balance and torque requirements.
