Abstract: Emulsified oil contained in oil-in-water emulsions is removed from waste water by mixing cationic polyacrylamide high polymers with the waste water, forming oil-containing aggregations and separating the aggregations from the demulsified water. The demulsified water can then be more effectively polished, typically by contact with adsorbent particles, and subsequently passed to environmentally acceptable disposal locations.

Abstract: An enteral feeding tube assembly for the administration of fluids to a patient having a semi-rigid stylet guide wire for assisting in the insertion of the feeding tube into the patient's stomach and having a distal orifice for exit of the fluid from the tube. Means are provided for retaining the stylet wire within the tube and restricting access of the end of the stylet wire to the orifice no matter what the size or configuration of the orifice.

Abstract: A method for loading a predetermined amount of particulate material into a container comprising providing a hopper containing a supply of the particulate material and a movable plate at least partly below the hopper, with the plate having a series of openings extending therethrough. The particulate material in the hopper is allowed to flow into and fill at least some of the openings in the plate, and the density of the particulate material in the openings is controlled. The plate is moved to move the filled openings to a filling station, and the particulate material from the openings is transferred to a container at the filling station. A plurality of the filled openings is used to deliver particulate material to each container so that any differences in the quantity of particulate material in the filled openings tends to be averaged.
Abstract: A connector including a base and first and second tubular members projecting in generally opposite directions from the base. Each of the tubular members has a longitudinal passage therein, and the passages are communicable with each other. The base can be coupled to first and second containers to place the first and second tubular members within the first and second containers, respectively, so that communication between the containers can be established. The connector includes a plurality of pointed projections extending away from the base to accommodate certain production tolerances in the containers.
Abstract: A disposable "third hand" holder for CAPD exchange sets holds a set connector and a cap in an aseptic condition until ready for use. The holder is adhesively secured to a work surface. After the set connector has been removed from the holder and the exchange is under way, a sterilant tube can be connected to the holder in place of the set connector, and its contents can be squeezed out through a passage within the holder into the interior of the cap. When the patient's catheter is eventually capped, the sterilant in the cap maintains all interior surfaces of the catheter connector in an aseptic condition.
