Abstract: The invention relates to a method and system for making reflection holograms and, more specifically, for making reflection holograms from a cylindrical surface of a master. Means are provided to direct substantially monochromatic actinic radiation through a recording medium sensitive to such radiation coupled to the cylindrical surface of the master such that the angle of incidence of the radiation on the master is substantially constant.
Abstract: This invention relates to a method and apparatus for making transmission holograms and, more specifically, using a rotatable drum adapted to receive a beam of actinic radiation on a reflector in the drum reflecting a portion of the beam through a master to a recording medium to form the transmission hologram in the recording medium.
Abstract: A scanning laser microscope system for assisting in the detection and characterization of fine details and structures of materials or other samples. The system can have means for enhancing light from the material to assist detection of anomalies, such as inclusions in the material and crystal lattice dislocations. The system can have means for enhancing fluorescent light emitted from the sample. The system can further have very precise means for processing signals representative of light detected from the material.

Abstract: The present invention relates to compliant sections utilized on contact elements which are mounted in plated-through holes in printed circuit boards, generally in conjunction with a plastic header and other electrical connectors. More particularly, the invention disclosed comprises a compliant section which includes a first deformable member and a second deformable member defining a substantially tear drop shaped space therebetween such that when the compliant section is press fit into an appropriately sized hole the members flex together forming a tapered shape.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a light-tight roll-film cassette for holding and dispensing light sensitive material, having lips forming a dispensing slot for the material drawn from the roll, these lips being mechanically enforced by ribs. The cassette has the advantage of improved light-tightness at the dispensing slot without increasing the dispensing forces.
Abstract: Methods of making assemblies and assemblies for interconnecting optical fibers and use in integrated optical systems. The optical fiber connector assemblies include a pedestal having a step supporting an optical waveguide device having a buried waveguide. End portions of the step support means for receiving cores and cladding of optical fibers with the optical axes of the cores in alignment with the optical axis or axes of the waveguide.
Abstract: A process involving scanning an original linewise and determining the tonal value of each scan dot. Multiple scan dots are collected into a scan field. The average tonal value of each scan field is determined by averaging the tonal values of the scan dots of that scan field. The original is reproduced on a recording medium by individual recording dots that can take the tone value "print" or "no-print". Several recording dots correspond to a scan field of the original. The tone value of the scan field can be reproduced almost exactly on the average by printing a specific number of recording dots. The distribution of recording dots to be printed for a scan field is determined by subdivision of the scan field into the smallest subfields.
Abstract: Die attach pickup tools for relocating a flexible die attach. The pickup tools comprise a head portion connected to an end portion. The head portions have a face for contacting a die attach and at least one hole in the face. Passage means extend from the hole(s) through the tool for connection to a vacuum source.
Abstract: A transfer device and method of its use for an electrostatic imaging system using liquid toner capable of generating images having very high resolution at fast speeds. The station includes three sections, an electrically biased tack down roller, a transfer corona station and a transfer medium separator. These sections are located to prevent the onset of turbulence in the liquid toner.

Abstract: A rotary developer for removing unhardened portions of a layer of an electronic part to form vias in the part. The developer orbits the layer about the axis in one direction while rotating the layer in an opposite direction eliminating leading and trailing edge effects on vias.
