  • Patent number: 6734403
Abstract: An oven and a method for controlling the ambient temperature in an oven comprising a baking cavity that is preheated with respect to a user-selected temperature set point. The baking cavity can include a rack for supporting a pan that conceptually divides the cavity into an upper heating region and a lower heating region. A broil heating element and corresponding broil temperature sensor are disposed in the upper heating region of the baking cavity. A bake heating element and corresponding bake heating sensor are disposed in the lower heating region of the baking cavity. A controlled is provided to control the activation of the broil and bake heating elements in response to the sensed temperature of the upper and lower heating regions to maintain the entire oven at a temperature substantially equal to a target temperature set point, which is determined based on the user-selected temperature set point.

  • Patent number: 6727449
Abstract: The invention relates to a snap-in locking device for a multistage rotary switch with a switch spindle that is connectable with a rotary knob. The switch spindle is connected with an axle part that is snapped into an inner receptacle of a built-in switch panel part. The axle part rests on the switch panel part and is lock-in adjustable between snap-in receptacles with cams that are each limited by two radially-aligned connector links. The snap-in receptacles cover the entire circumference of the inner receptacle of the switch panel part. The axle part can be set into rotary motion with the switch spindle by a rotary knob, which is attachable to the switch spindle, and that modifiable limit stops define the number of switch positions, then a snap-in locking device for a operating unit is created with simple and cost-effective production and assembly parts that is coupleable with other components of the operating unit and can be equipped with an over-rotation safeguard.

  • Patent number: 6715175
Abstract: A method and apparatus for predicting load unbalance in an appliance is provided for an appliance having a vessel configured to receive a supply of material and rotatable about an axis. A control is arranged and configured to rapidly accelerate a rotation of the vessel, determine an amount of energy with which the vessel has engaged the relatively stationary part, compare the amount of energy with a predetermined value and send a signal indicative of an unbalance condition if the amount of energy exceeds the predetermined value. The vessel may be rotated by use of an electric motor such as a controlled induction motor and the control can be used to measure the electric current drawn by the motor and through manipulation of the current, determine the amount of energy with which the vessel engages the stationary part of the appliance.

  • Patent number: 6698417
Abstract: A device for obtaining rapid ignition of a gas burner of a cooking hob fed via a gas pipe provided with a solenoid safety valve, with said burner there being associated a usual igniter and a knob for controlling its activation, the solenoid valve being connected to powering means immersed in the flame generated by the burner to maintain the solenoid valve in a working position which ensures gas feed to the burner, further powering means being provided to maintain said solenoid valve in said working position immediately a user activates the burner by means of the knob, without any further action on the knob by said user.

  • Patent number: 6700101
Abstract: A power management system in electrical cooking appliances having at least two electrical heating elements wherein the power level of the elements can be set by a user but not exceed a predetermined power level. The power management system being able to compare the total level set by the user with the predetermined power level. The power management system also being able to downgrade the total level set by the user to a lower level which does not to exceed the predetermined level, independently of the set levels. The power management system being further able to selectively downgrade the heating element operating at the higher power level by a predefined step until the total power does not exceed the predetermined power level.
