Patent number: 6864648Abstract: A motor that includes a stator that contains a first winding and a second winding driven by alternating currents. The rotor is arranged to rotate relative to the stator and contains a third winding and a fourth winding for generating a magnetic field with an amplitude and a phase angle relative to the alternating currents in the first and second windings of the stator. The motor includes a circuit in communication with the third and fourth windings for controlling the phase angle of the magnetic field and generating a rotating magnetic field that is in phase-lock with the alternating currents in the first and second windings of the stator. The motor also includes a control circuit and a comparator. The control circuit has an angular position feedback device for measuring the phase of the stator and the angular position and velocity of the rotor.Type: GrantFiled: February 8, 2002Date of Patent: March 8, 2005Assignee: Powersci, IncInventor: Ian D. Patent number: 6785803Abstract: A technique is provided for breaking a stalled condition or livelock in a processor having a replay queue. A livelock or stalled condition is detected. One or more instructions are temporarily stored in a replay queue. A release or break in the livelock or stalled condition is detected, and the instructions are then unloaded from the replay queue for replay or re-execution. For a multi-threaded processor, a stall is detected in one of the threads. Instructions of the stalled thread are temporarily stored in a replay queue, except the oldest instruction of the stalled thread which is allowed to replay or re-execute. This allows other threads to have access to execution and replay resources. Eventually, the oldest instruction will execute and retire, which breaks or releases the stalled thread. The instructions stored in the replay queue are then unloaded from the replay queue.Type: GrantFiled: September 22, 2000Date of Patent: August 31, 2004Assignee: Intel CorporationInventors: Amit A. Merchant, David J. Sager, James D. Allen

Patent number: 6765512Abstract: A table-driven, integer-based method for approximating down sampling of wave data is disclosed. This method provides an efficient approximation of the desired down sampled wave data without a significant impact to overall system performance. Integer calculations are exploited by: (1) multiplying all values of ti by a large enough value to include all significant portions of the decimal value; (2) making all values of &Dgr;t integer values; and (3) using integer arithmetic for most calculations of &Dgr;t and ti. The following static integer tables assist in the final calculations: (1) T[ ], where each element contains the value of ti divided by &Dgr;t and multiplied by a large enough value, M, to place all significant decimal values to the left of the decimal; and (2) D[ ], where each element contains the number of samples of San to drop before arriving at a useable San and San+1 pair.Type: GrantFiled: October 29, 2002Date of Patent: July 20, 2004Assignee: Intel CorporationInventors: Jack L Mason, Chi M Cheung

Patent number: 6742051Abstract: In an example embodiment, an interface is provided between a software application and a hardware device transferring data between the software application and a network. The interface posts a request from the software application and, in response to a first polling inquiry received from the software application, determines whether or not an event signal corresponding to the request has been provided to it from the hardware device. The interface carries out a rearm routine if an event signal has not been provided at the time of the polling inquiry. A second polling inquiry is made by the software application after the interface is rearmed and the interface determines whether or not an event signal has been provided to it by the hardware device. The interface then carries out a wait routine which waits for the event signal if an event signal was not provided at the time of the second polling inquiry.Type: GrantFiled: August 31, 1999Date of Patent: May 25, 2004Assignee: Intel CorporationInventors: Bikram Singh Bakshi, Frank L. Berry, Ed Gronke, Ellen Deleganes

Patent number: 6717621Abstract: Briefly, in accordance with one embodiment of the invention, a method of reducing flicker in a video image sequence includes the following. Successive video images are temporally filtered. The filter length is adjusted so as to reduce the amount of filtering across temporal discontinuities in the video image sequence. Briefly, in accordance with another embodiment of the invention, a method of reducing flicker in a video image sequence includes the following. Successive video images are temporally filtered. The filter length is dynamically adjusted.Type: GrantFiled: December 26, 2001Date of Patent: April 6, 2004Assignee: Intel CorporationInventor: Thomas P. O'Rourke

Patent number: 6510065Abstract: Briefly, in accordance with one embodiment of the invention, a circuit includes: a DC-to-DC converter. The DC-to-DC converter includes a plurality of ripple regulator DC-to-DC converter circuits. The plurality of circuits are coupled so that the output signals produced by each of the ripple regulator DC-to-DC converter circuits is out of phase with respect to the other of the ripple regulator DC-to-DC converter circuits.Type: GrantFiled: April 16, 2001Date of Patent: January 21, 2003Assignee: Intel CorporationInventors: Harold L. Massie, Edward L. Payton
