Patent number: 5435489Abstract: Nozzles for discharging high velocity air are positioned on either side of an aircraft engine exhaust duct exit. High velocity air is discharged tangential to an outer surface of each nozzle and follows the contour thereof. The nozzles are positioned so that when the high velocity air separates from the outer surface of the respective nozzles, it flows outwardly relative to the aircraft's fuselage structure. The high velocity air from the nozzle closest to the aircraft's fuselage structure impinges on the exhaust gas stream, deflecting the stream away from the fuselage. The high velocity air from the nozzle furthest from the fuselage creates a low pressure area which deflects the exhaust gas stream away from the fuselage. In combination, the two nozzles deflect the exhaust gas stream away from the fuselage to a significant degree.Type: GrantFiled: January 13, 1994Date of Patent: July 25, 1995Assignee: Bell Helicopter Textron Inc.Inventors: Julian L. Patent number: 5419221Abstract: A ratchet wrench comprises a ratchet head having a conventional ratchet system for rotating a shank about an axis. A generally cylindrically shaped connecting pin aligned along an axis parallel to the shank axis is attached to the ratchet head. The connecting pin extends through a splined orifice in a handle, thereby connecting the handle to the ratchet head. The handle is slidable between a locked position and a unlocked position on the connecting pin. When the handle is in the locked position, the ratchet wrench can be used to rotate a nut or bolt in a conventional manner. When the handle is in the unlocked position, and the ratchet wrench can be used to rapidly rotate a nut or bolt by moving the handle in a reciprocating manner. When a nut or bolt to be rotated is near an obstruction, the handle can be unlocked, rotated about the connecting pin axis, then locked, thereby adjusting the angle between the longitudinal axis of the handle and the longitudinal axis of the ratchet head.Type: GrantFiled: June 16, 1994Date of Patent: May 30, 1995Inventor: James E. Patent number: 5303462Abstract: A wire crimping machine automatically adjusts the crimping means to the proper crimp depth for a selected size of wire and the size of the contact to be crimped onto the wire. The size of wire to be crimped is selected by the operator. As a wire is inserted into the machine for crimping, an arrangement of light emitting diodes, photo diodes, and associated circuits determine the wire's size and whether the wire is stripped. The crimping means is allowed to actuate only if the wire is stripped and the wire's size is the same as that selected by the operator.Type: GrantFiled: October 26, 1992Date of Patent: April 19, 1994Assignee: Bell Helicopter Textron Inc.Inventors: Billie B.
