Abstract: An apparatus for collecting and testing multiple biological markers comprising a tubular compartmentalized container holding covalently bound antigen beads and correlating anti-antibody beads contained in separated compartments. The biological fluid, namely urine, is collected in the tubular container and is forced to flow through the separated compartment of the compartmentalized container so that predetermined ligands become attached to the bead ligands to obtain a plurality of biological markers.

Abstract: A sterile injectable mixture which intensifies and localizes radio frequency thermotherapy; the injectable mixture contains finely ground ferrite particles in a viscid aqueous suspension, the ferrite being matched for maximum radio frequency absorption at a specific frequency. A chemotherapeutic agent, a surfactant and a bioacceptable hydrophic colloid are also contained in the mixture.

Abstract: A device for cracking plaque from a blood vessel comprising a fixed jaw member assembly, a moveable jaw member and hammer assembly slidably mounted on the fixed jaw member assembly and a spring transmitting a driving force to the hammer assembly. A handle is connected to the fixed jaw member assembly and a trigger activation assembly is mounted in the handle to activate a trigger releasing the hammer assembly to transmit a driving force against the moveable jaw member and an adjacent blood vessel.

Abstract: Acne is treated by administering to the subject a substance which is effective in blocking glucose entry into sebaceous cells, thereby inhibiting the production of sebum by these cells. Typically, the substance is administered topically and is dissolved or suspended in an appropriate solvent. The preferred substance is phloretin, which can for example, be dissolved in propylene glycol.

Abstract: A manlid for a tubular pressure vessel has a one-piece pressed stainless steel skin having an upwardly facing undulating annular groove and a downwardly-facing tapered annular seal groove. The lid assembly is provided with an inner reinforcing member located in the upwardly facing annular groove and an outer, annular peripheral reinforcing member located across the inner reinforcing member and having one arm in abutment with the exterior surface of the seal groove. The inner and outer reinforcing members are formed into a number of angularly-spaced lugs for receipt of conventional threaded swing bolts for securing the manlid in position. The provision of an inner reinforcing member between the pressed skin and the outer reinforcing member allows a pressed skin from a lower pressure-rated manlid to be used in a higher pressure-rated design.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a sacrificial compensating ring for a down hole hammer having an outer sleeve, a drive sub and a drill bit, wherein the sacrificial compensating ring has an outer diameter greater than that of the outer sleeve and substantially the same as that of the drill bit and the sacrificial compensating ring being located between the outer sleeve and the drive sub.

Abstract: A sports glove for use in contact sports comprising a unitary molded body which is constructed with a wrist section, a hand section, and finger and thumb sections. An elastic strap with VELCRO fasteners is secured to the wrist section of the glove and is adapted to encircle the glove so that the strap can be fastened around the wrist portion, holding the wrist portion of the glove around the hand of the wearer. A reinforced thumb member is secured to the thumb section to form a thumb enclosure and a reinforced finger member is secured to the hand section of the glove to form a finger enclosure. A protective pad is secured to the back of the hand portion of the glove covering the ridge bones of the hand and the unitary molded body, thumb member, finger member and protective pad are covered by a smooth uniform plastic coating.

Abstract: An apparatus for collecting biological fluids and holding samples taken from a biological fluid for qualitative and quantitative testing. The apparatus comprises a tubular container open at both ends with a quantitative test storage unit removably secured to one of said tubular container ends. The quantitative test storage unit has an open end, a cytology membrane mounted in the storage unit and a retaining rib. A shuttle assembly is slidably mounted in the tubular container comprising a cylindrical hollow piston defining a chamber, a thumb cover covering one end of the piston and a fluid flow aperture formed in the piston and a qualitative sample container assembly removable secured to the piston. The qualitative sample container assembly comprises a clip on membrane assembly including a membrane containing immobilized antibodies and a filter housing mounted to the clip on membrane asssembly.

Abstract: A bacteriocidal virocidal sponge containing iodine and/or chlorhexidine and a surfactant which can be used as a contraceptive and virocidal and bacteriocidal sponge positioned within a human body comprising a polyurethane open cell foam impregnated with a surfactant and iodine and/or chlorhexidine. A bactericidal tampon containing an iodophor or chlorhexidine does not induce toxic shock syndrome.

Abstract: The present invention is directed toward an apparatus and a method which can use immunoassay in sample treatment apparatus for diagnostic and testing purposes of urine by concentrating specific urine antigen in a small volume area and concentrating the urinary sediments in a separate small volume area. Urine is transported through the tubular container under pressure to flow through the sample container which screens off the urinary sediments and the beads so that antigens carried in the urine are collected and concentrated on the beads.

Abstract: An apparatus for testing biological molecular indicators in blood comprising a tubular container, and a sample compartmentalized removable container holding a membrane with immobilized ligands. Blood is collected in the tubular container under pressure to flow through the sample compartmentalized container which screens off the blood cells so that specific ligands carried by the blood can be captured by the immobilized ligands on the membrane.

Abstract: A dental articulator for use with a dental stone comprising; a lower jaw member and an upper jaw member mounted to the lower jaw member. One of said jaw members is provided with a pivot post and a key member and the other jaw member defines a apertre which fits around the pivot post and a key way which selectively receives the key member for positioning the jaw members in a selected fixed positional relationship. A plurality of slots are formed in each jaw member to give the jaw member flex in the vertical and lateral direction and serrations are formed in the end of each jaw member to prevent rotation out of the dental stone. A dowel holding rod with associated dowel pins mounted thereto is mounted to the ends of each jaw member for mounting in selective jaw casts in one embodiment of the invention.

Abstract: An oil reclamation device comprising an evaporator plate secured to an evaporator head to form an evaporation chamber which is heated by a heating element mounted in the evaporator head. A spin on filter assembly with an integral oil dispenser tube is removably mounted to the evaporator plate. The evaporator plate is provided with an oil inlet to receive oil to be reclaimed and an oil outlet to discharge reconditioned oil which has passed through the filter assembly and heated evaporation chamber. Features of this invention include an improved removable filter assembly, an improved heat transmitting element located in the evaporator head, and an improved evaporator plate.

Abstract: A process for identification, description and display of design components, such as interior decoration products, selected by describing desired component characteristics to a digital computer. An image database is provided, preferably in the form of an addressable optical videodisk, each frame of which portrays an individual design component, and the images are displayed by operation of a computer-controlled archive system such as a random-access optical videodisk player. A characteristics database is provided to identify each portrayed design component by a variety of product categories including at least color, price, manufacturer and image database address. The process obtains one or more desired component characteristics, examines the characteristics database to identify design components meeting the desired product characteristics, and displays the identified component images together with a complete record of characteristics for each product.

Abstract: A peristaltic pump for pumping fluids through a flexible tube is described which has a quick release and engagement mechanism that permits easy and rapid removal or insertion of the flexible tube into the device. The quick release and engagement mechanism of the invention consists of a shoe mounted for vertical displacement on the body of the pump. Upward movement of the shoe engages the flexible tube holding the fluid to be pumped and locks the tube against the roller assembly containing an eccentrically mounted roller which intermittently engages the tube and forces fluid out of it. To disengage the flexible tube from the pump, the shoe is moved downward out of contact with the flexible tube.

Abstract: A seal, especially for a valve, comprises a substantially rigid support member 10, an abutment envelope 22 made from polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) defining a volume between it and the support member, and a resiliently deformable, compressed, rubber sealing member 18 positioned in the volume.The PTFE envelope 22 is relatively chemically inert and allows the seal to be used in chemically harsh environments, the rubber sealing member 18 provides the necessary resilience and the rigid support member produces positive sealing.In a preferred embodiment, the sealing member 18, the abutment envelope 22 and the support member 10 are annular.

Abstract: A chemotaxis assay instrument comprising a plate assembly with a bottom plate, a gasket seal mounted to the bottom plate and an intermediate plate mounted on the other side of the gasket seal and spaced by the gasket seal from the bottom plate. The intermediate plate defines a plurality of wells to hold a sample and a filter membrane is mounted on the intermediate plate. A second intermediate plate is spaced from the first intermediate plate by the filter membrane and second gasket seal is mounted on the other side of the second intermediate plate with a top plate mounted on said second gasket seal and spaced by the second gasket seal from the second intermediate plate, the plate assembly being held together by fasteners in a sealed relationship.
