  • Patent number: 5961383
Abstract: A method and a device for boning a leg or a part thereof of a slaughtered animal. Prior to the removal of the meat from the leg or the part thereof, an incision is made through a tendon at the position of the condyle of the tibia in the ankle joint. During scraping of meat from the lower leg, the lower leg is retained by a lug which engages in the canalis tendineus. Prior to or during the boning operation, the kneecap of the leg is pressed through an opening of a stop element, following which the kneecap projecting from the opening is removed.

  • Patent number: 5918652
Abstract: A mechanism that attaches to a plunge router, particularly when the router is used in a router table, to conveniently and accurately move the router body relative to the router base in order to adjust the position of a router bit in the router relative to the router table. Substantial excursions are made by moving a handle up or down using a handle or a foot pedal, and small excursions are made using a micro-adjust mechanism that has a detent set screw and cooperating structure to facilitate adjustment of the micro-adjust mechanism by very small predetermined increments.

  • Patent number: 5890524
Abstract: A router table sled for use with a router table and a router table fence includes an arm assembly that rides along the fence and a strut assembly that supports the workpiece. The arm assembly includes a slider that slides along an upper edge of the fence and an arm attached to an upper edge of the slide. The arm is usually in a position perpendicular to the slide. The arm is also coupled to a strut assembly that includes a main strut, and two additional struts located beneath the main strut. Each strut includes a longitudinally-centered T-shaped slot formed into top, front, and rear faces. The front faces of each strut lie substantially within the same plane. The two lower struts have opposing edges that are spaced a predetermined distance from each other. When a workpiece is clamped to the faces of the struts, an edge may be placed against the fence. The workpiece may then be moved across the router bit to produce a square cut.

  • Patent number: 5881384
Abstract: A directable, hand-wearable communication device provides a frontal display surface and a rear display surface to which images can be applied for promoting teams, athletes, corporate sponsors, political parties and the like. Frontal and rear display surfaces may be provided by corresponding members that are joined at their perimeters to form a pocket for receiving a human hand and presenting no obstructions between the fingers, including the thumb. The device has an aperture at the lower extremity of the joined perimeter for permitting access by the hand to the pocket. An elastic neck portion is preferably joined along the edge of the aperture to snugly fit around the wrist of the wearer and keep the device securely in his or her possession, particularly during vigorous use.

  • Patent number: 5865766
Abstract: A multichannel, multipurpose sample collection and drug delivery system for laboratory animals includes several sampling and/or infusion devices mounted on a powered turntable above the cage but out of the animal's sight. Probes are constructed using a unique four-channel design: this permits (a) the periodic infusion of drugs without the possibility of artifacts due to pressure shocks and (b) the addition of preservatives to the sample at the site of its collection. A simplified sample collection device stores samples in a coil of PTFE tubing, and a constant-pressure perfusion system serves microdialysis probes.

  • Patent number: 5862848
Abstract: A mortising fixture that utilizes interchangeable templates to guide an electric router fitted with a template guide bushing. The templates are held in a fixture plate that is positioned on the box or lid surface to be mortised and which plate is clamped to the lid or box in a position that is determined by (1) a fixture fence that rests against the back edge of the lid or box and (2) a adjustable end stop that indexes against the lid or box sides. One box mortise and the opposite lid mortise are made with the end stop screw block in one position on the fixture plate, and the other two mortises are made after flipping the fixture block and adjusting screw to a corresponding position on the other side of the plate.

  • Patent number: 5809917
Abstract: A system for controlling tension improves carpet quality by maintaining tension along a primary backing material at a constant value. The system controls the tension by maintaining the speed of an entry pin roller slightly slower than the speed of an exit pin roller. The exit pin roller is driven with a main drive motor while the entry pin roller is independently driven by a separate vector drive motor. An encoder, coupled to the exit pin roller, is driven in synchronism with the exit pin roller and produces a pulsed output which is converted into an analog signal representative of the speed of the exit pin roller. A controller receives a user-defined desired value of tension and monitors outputs of a pair of load cells to determine the amount of tension actually on the primary backing material. Based on the difference between the actual value of tension and the desired value of tension, the controller produces a control signal which is fed to a drive circuit.

  • Patent number: 5800403
Abstract: A syringe apparatus and process for using the same is provided, the syringe apparatus having a barrel, a plunger movable within the barrel, a needle assembly attached to an end of the barrel and having a passageway therethrough, a deformable base positioned within the barrel, flexible supports included on the deformable base, a spring within the passageway of the needle assembly, a hollow needle passing through the passageway, an enlarged head on the needle, and a rupturable web on an end of the plunger, whereby when the plunger moves through the barrel toward the needle assembly, a fluid can be moved from the barrel through the hollow of the needle, and continued movement of the plunger flexes the supports and moves the deformable base downwardly until such time a sufficient force is imparted to the rupturable web by the enlarged head to tear the web, the deformable base then releasing the needle due to force applied by the spring to project the needle into the interior of the plunger.

  • Patent number: 5725038
Abstract: A router baseplate and router table, and a method for accurately mounting the baseplate on a router base and machining table top material to receive the baseplate so that the router may be used suspended upside down in the table top. The router baseplate is a relatively thin plate centered on the router collet that remains attached to the router for free hand use and that is received snugly in a hole in the table top supported by a ledge adjacent to the hole. Two opposed sections of the ledge are omitted so that the router and baseplate can be installed in the table top from the bottom of the table top by tilting the router and baseplate, sliding the baseplate through the openings in the ledge, and then untilting the router and seating the baseplate edge on the ledge. Movement during use in the tabletop is limited by a pin fixed in the baseplate and received in a recess in the ledge.
