    Abstract: There is provided a tube end configuration for joining two hollow tubes end to end, the novel joint comprising a tapered end on one tube, which end fits into the untapered end of another tube forming a variable length tubular pipe. The untapered tube end has one or more protrusions (ridges) extending inwardly from its inner wall while the tapered end has one or more complementing indentations (recesses) extending inwardly from its outer wall. The ridges engage the recesses when the tubes are joined together. One or both of the tubes also have several longitudinally aligned slots located within the tube ends that overlap whereby spring leaves are defined which can flex resiliently to allow the ridge(s) to ride over the taper and fixedly lodge in the recess(es) as the tubes are slid together.

    Abstract: An integrated dentifrice and brushing container for use with a disposable toothbrush of the type comprising: a tubular stem for holding a bristle-carrying head formed integrally of the stem portion, an enlarged dentifrice holding chamber within the tubular stem, an internal passage extending between the dentifrice chamber and the bristle portion terminating in an aperture adjacent the bed of imbedded bristles. The head end of the assembly at the back of the bristles is provided with a position-adjustable valving member which alternately seals or opens the dentifrice outlet passage from the chamber to adjacent to the bristles. The slideable member is provided with an external tab which protrudes sufficiently to assure manual grasping and reciprocating position adjustment by thumb action.

An annular rib is formed on the end face of the recess around the passageway and includes a surface on which is seated a first sealing ring clamped in place by a first bearing surface of the particular insert assembly used to form the steam trap; an annular seat is formed on the outer surface of the body member around the cylindrical recess and this seat receives a second sealing ring which is clamped in place by a second bearing surface of the insert assembly.

A flexible sleeve is provided surrounding each fluid passage which, when pressure is supplied to its exterior, will collapse about a central fitting in each passage preventing flow from inlet to outlet openings in the central fitting. Pressure in the chamber surrounding the flexible sleeve is relieved when the dental handpiece is removed from its holder and is restored when the handpiece is returned to its holder.

    Abstract: An integral window unit comprising a sill member, a header member and a pair of jamb members interconnected to form a generally rectangular window frame. The jamb members have first and second pairs of track means each pair of which slideably receives a prime window sash and third and fourth pairs of track means each pair of which slideably receives a storm window sash. The distance between the track members in the first pair is greater than the distance between the track members in the second pair which in turn is greater than the distance between the third pair which is greater than the distance between the fourth pair. At least one pair of track means is in overlapping relationship with the adjacent pair of track means. A thermal barrier is provided in the window frame between the second and third pair of track members to minimize heat loss therethrough and a fifth pair of track means is provided adjacent the thermal barrier for slideably receiving a screen member.

When a weight, in excess of a normal brush load, is sensed, as for example when the chipper operator is being drawn into the chipper, the guard (38) is released automatically and moves to block the inlet (12) to the cutter (10). The toy vehicle can be in any desired shape loosely fitting within the tubular members and includes, at its tail end, flexible seal means which engages the inner periphery of the tubular track members to prevent the flow of pressurized fluid around the vehicle.

    Abstract: The preferred embodiment of the invention disclosed herein includes a main check valve responsive to the rate of flow of fluid to a demand system and a bypass valve metering the flow of fluid to a bypass system. In the closed position of the main check valve, the bypass valve is in a fully open position whereby a predetermined minimum flow from a pressure source is maintained; in an intermediate position of the main check valve responsive to the predetermined minimum rate of flow thereacross, the bypass valve is closed and remains closed from the intermediate position of the main check valve to the fully open position. Operation of the bypass valve is controlled by fluid pressure from the inlet side of the main check valve which acts on a piston associated with the bypass valve and the buildup of pressure is controlled by a pilot valve.
