Abstract: An infrared device for prewarming IV solutions is provided with a cassette having a predetermined length of tubing connectable at an inlet to and IV solution source and an inlet connected to a device for infusion to a patient. An infrared energy-generating sheet is positioned in the cassette on or adjacent to the IV tubing or passage. The infrared energy sheet includes a fiberglass support grid, a layer formed on support matrix from a mixture of carbon and polymeric materials capable of producing infrared radiation in response to electrical current passed there through. A pair of electrical conduction power strips are attached along opposite sides of the matrix layer and are attached to input power terminals to provide the required current. The entire cassette may be held together with a glue or may be otherwise bonded or molded into a unit for convenient handling.

Abstract: A linear peristaltic pump of the type for removable engagement of a portion of a flexible tubing and having a plurality of sequentially actuated pumping elements which act along the engaged portion of the flexible tubing, with the pumping elements reciprocated in a first direction to collapse adjacent segments of the tubing and then in a second direction to release the adjacent segments of the tubing, each pumping element having a flat pumping surface reciprocated in a sequence so that fluid in the flexible tubing is moved along the engaged portion of the tubing. The linear peristaltic pump is provided with a plurality of opposed pairs of pivotable reshaping fingers, with each pair of the reshaping fingers interposed adjacent to one of the pumping elements in sequence along the engaged portion of the flexible tubing.

Abstract: A moveable pedicure table for combination with a reclining facial bed as provided having a table frame with side portions and a central open portion. Legs extend downward from the frame and rollers are attached to the legs for movement along a horizontal ground or floor surface. Projections extend inward into the central open area from the sides of the table frame. The projections are constructed for supporting a pedicure basin at a predetermined height. A connector mechanism is attached to the table frame for detachable engagement with a facial bed.

Abstract: An improved microbiological fire-fighting foam which comprises a bioremediating component, surfactants, foaming agents, and inorganic nutrients, the bioremediating component consisting substantially of sporulating bacteria which are tolerant of the surfactants used, the surfactants selected being innocuous to the bioremediating component used both when the microbes are in a spore state and when activated, and the selected surfactants further being biodegradable by the microbes of the microbial solution. Alternative embodiments of the invention include formulations which comprise perfumes and/or preservatives in addition to the constituents mentioned above. The improved formulation enables microbiological digestion to inert volatile organic compounds and hydrocarbons which may indeed be ablaze when applied.

Abstract: A dual use belly dumping and end dumping vehicle is provided, including a frame, having left and right side beams connected together to form an opening therebetween. The frame is mounted on rear wheels for transport. A hopper with sides, ends and an openable bottom is carried in the opening between the left and right side beams in the frame. Rollers are mounted to the sides of the hopper for rollingly supporting the hopper on top of the left and right side beams of the frame. Pivot bars are mounted on the frame above the rear wheels. Pivot-engaging sockets are mounted on the hopper for engaging the pivot bars when the hopper is rolled rearward along the side beams, constructed for releasably engaged pivoting of the hopper about the pivot bars to a dumping position at which an end of the hopper dumps the content thereof behind the rear wheels to which the frame is mounted.

Abstract: A step-back eliminating tapered dental cutting instrument for improved root canal treatment and a method of root canal therapy in which the instrument includes a first tapered working portion having spiral-shaped cutting edges which define a first tapered angle, and a second tapered working portion having spiral-shaped cutting edges which define at least one second tapered angle. The second separate tapered angle may have a compound curve taper steeper at the distal tip of the instrument.

Abstract: A system and method of catheterization, includes a needle, a "Y" chamber, a syringe or other chamber, a dilator, a sheath, a protective sleeve and a shock sheath. This introduces a comprehensive, uniform and universal approach to catheterization. Discriminatory methods of treatment using the invention are described. Particular attention has been paid to current problems in catheterization and the prevention of transmission of communicable diseases from patient to practitioner and vice-versa (e.g., the risk of contracting the HIV virus is substantially reduced using this system and method.) The discriminatory treatment of diseases, in particular, cancer, is now rapid, safe and in some instances, novel| The invention makes possible substantial reductions in the cost of health-care while improving the efficiency of diagnosis and treatment. The invention allows the practitioner to perform simultaneous diagnosis and treatment of diseases using the same procedure, regardless of their location in or on the body.

Abstract: A rigidified quartz-halogen light bulb and method for forming an improved vibration-resistant, high temperature light bulb is provided in which the terminals of the high temperature light bulb and lead wires attached to the terminals at attachment sites are coated with thermal-setting epoxy. The thermal-setting epoxy is covered with individual heat-shrinkable sleeves. High temperature, thermal-setting epoxy is fillingly adhered between the individual shrink-fit sleeves and is partially adhered to the base of the light bulb. An exterior shrink-fit tubing is applied, encasing all of the terminals, lead wires, attachment sites, epoxy coatings, individual sleeves and interposed fill epoxy. The entire composite is cured in position to provide the rigidifying structure in combination with the light bulb.

The tool unit includes a structural base having a slide-mounted high torque, low speed hydraulic motor with internal reduction gearing. The motor is slide mounted for directly driving a lead screw for rotation and longitudinal movement. The lead screw is supported by both the slide-mounted motor and a fixed lead nut. The slide or guideway has a length of travel substantially equal to the length of threads on the lead screw. Reversing and stop control devices control the forward tapping and retracting limits of movement. The design provides a lead screw having an internal bore for coaxially coupling with the motor drive shaft and having an internal coaxial receptacle for replaceably receiving a tapping tool.
