Abstract: A device is used to squeeze side walls of a flexible bottle containing a carbonated beverage. The device is preferably a generally horseshoe-shaped clip having an arched portion, two parallel legs extending from the arched portion, and end tips flaring outwardly from each of the two parallel legs. The perpendicular distance between the two parallel legs is less than the diameter of the flexible bottle. Sufficient pressure is maintained inside the flexible bottle so that the beverage contained therein remains carbonated. The pressure maintained inside the flexible bottle is in the range of three to five psi.
Abstract: A telescoping support structure is provided having specially shaped inner and outer tubular members which serve to form an essentially non-rotatable elongated structure that can be locked into a desired stable position.
Abstract: A quad fold pleated material is disclosed which has excellent obscuring function and an esthetically pleasing appearance that hides the shadows of supporting structure of a lamp shade or whatever else the material is draped around.
Abstract: A grinding apparatus and leveling process utilizing the grinding apparatus for the leveling of concrete and other masonry surface are provided. The invention particularly relates to leveling and smoothing the surfaces of foundations in preparation for the installation of industrial equipment and machinery. Specifically, a support base and a vertically height adjustable leveling base which sets atop the support base when the apparatus is in use, are provided. Mounted to the leveling base is, preferably, a power driven grinding mechanism fixed at a set vertical position relative to the leveling base.

Abstract: A knock down lamp shade using a pleated material is disclosed which has excellent appearance and storability, and is easily assembled and dis-assembled. A flexible draw ring connected to the pleated material that provides and assists the assembly and dis-assembly function yet forms the top of an assembled lamp shade. A novel rigid supporting structure is disclosed that is easily stored, assembled and dis-assembled, and when combined with my pleated material, creates an esthetically pleasing and economical known down lamp shade that has excellent capacity to hide or obscure the shadows from the supporting structure from observation when installed on a lit lamp.
Abstract: A novel tong which may be activated or deactivated electromagnetically is used to advantageously reposition ingot molds or the like. Chain-like positioning means are used to position the tong. Cables are used to carry the load of the molds.
Abstract: A rotatable electrical connector for preventing twisting and kinking of cords such as telephone and portable appliance cords includes a shell having an open-ended cylindrical bore with a series of contact elements projecting radially inwardly from the wall of the bore and a barrel rotatably received and retained in the bore with the circumference of the barrel having a series of contact rings in alignment with the contact elements. First and second electrical connectors are provided on the ends of the shell and the barrel, respectively, with the corresponding contacts electrically connected through the contact elements and contact rings.
Abstract: The removal of residual material from torpedo cars or the like is facilitated with use of apparatus including a generally open topped and a generally flat bottom heat resistant receiving container that permits molten pig iron to be removed from torpedo cars and allows it to go to a ladle while retaining slag to prevent the slag from being transferred to the ladle. Use of the invention permits the elimination of dekishing operations.
Abstract: A hand tool usable to remove kinks and bends from flat jewelry chain consists of a roller of glass or similar material and a handle bonded to the roller along one side thereof.
Abstract: Flotation apparatus for flocculated solid material has a flotation tank alongside a passage for upward flow of liquid carrying the solid material. A wall of the passage on the side towards the tank has a top portion curved over to its free edge to provide a submerged weir over which the liquid passes from the passage into the tank. To prevent turbulence in the liquid on passing over the weir and to prevent a preferential flow path in the flotation tank, the tank itself has, on its side towards the upward flow passage, a side wall which is generally spaced from the side wall of the passage but joins the latter wall away from the said free edge. The tank side wall slopes downwardly away from the passage from a point located inwardly of the tank with respect to the free edge.
Abstract: A blast furnace taphole drill has a flaring head (3) with cutting edges (5) at its cutting end formed by intersecting angled faces. A central bore (4) carries cleaning air to the cutting end. To prevent blockage of the cleaning air bore (4) by debris and possible jamming of the drill, the head has deep radial grooves (6) formed at the bottoms of the valley shapes between the cutting edges (5). The grooves (6) extend radially from the air bore (4) and conduct the air so that it can get behind or under jammed debris. Reduced taphole drilling times can be achieved.

Abstract: An annular seal assembly disposed between a shaft surface and a surrounding ousing, for example, a seal assembly for an aft-stern tube seal of a sea-going vessel, comprises a nonrotating annular seal element having a circumferentially segmented construction, the segments having overlapping ends. An inflatable annular member, concentrically disposed between the housing and the seal element, sealingly supports the seal element on the shaft surface at the same time providing some freedom for radial vibrating movements to accommodate shaft-eccentricities and radial vibrating movements of the shaft. The seal assembly includes means to admit a controlled pressurized fluid into the inflatable member. The pressurized fluid may be the outboard sea water or any water or air under pressure. The pressurized fluid is so controlled as to maintain a narrow clearance between the shaft surface and the segmented seal element for a lubricant, regardless of seal wear and variation in the pressure head of the fluid.
