Abstract: A wireless radio modem for incorporation into a host system includes radio frequency modulation/demodulation circuitry employing electronic device elements that operate in a frequency range that minimize the RF interference between the radio modem and the host system. Radio modem power conservation is further maximized by 1) simplifying signal modulation processing by use of a single sideband suppressed carrier waveform transition table, thereby reducing processing requirements; and 2) incorporating a "sleep mode" feature in which all non-timer circuitry is powered-down when not in use.

Abstract: A method of playing a novel board game wherein player pieces are moved along a predetermined path in accordance with the ability of one player to remember a fictitious name selected by the other player before the game begins. Cards are dealt in sequence to all the players to form a card pile face up in front of each player. When the last played card matches a card previously paid, those two players try to recall and say the other player's name first. The player who says the other player's name first takes the other's card pile, counts the number of cards in it, and advances a corresponding number of spaces on the playing board. The player who reaches the finish location first, either one or more times, is the winner.

Abstract: A thin PTC device that includes a layer of PTC material sandwiched between a pair of metal plates is provided with an increased effective thickness by outwardly extending flanges on at least one of the metal plates. This allows a close fit of the PTC device in a pocket that otherwise would be too large for holding the PTC device properly.

Abstract: Weighing apparatus includes support means to support the article to be weighed, a pair of screws fixedly mounted on the support means and a base member movable relative to the screws between a first position in which the base member is spaced from the bottom of the article and a second position in which the base member is in contact with the article. Screw receiving members are threadably mounted on the screws and are connected to the base member. Upon rotation of the screw receiving members, the base member is moved between the first and second positions.

Abstract: An automatic shaft lock for use in power tools with one end that carries implements such as screwdriver heads, drill bits and the like, permits use of the tool manually, i.e., without power. The locking mechanism allows rotation of the shaft by the motor but locks rotation of the shaft when torque is applied at the implement end or to the housing so as to allow manual use of the tool. In the preferred embodiment, a locking ring is concentric with an end of the spindle that is connected to the implement and also with an end of the output shaft driven by the motor. A wedging pin wedges against the locking ring to prohibit rotation of the spindle and the output shaft except when the spindle is driven by the output shaft which, when driven in either direction, traps the pin in a non-wedging position.
