  • Patent number: 5983567
Abstract: A safety device for an automatic window opening and closing mechanism which includes a first detector for detecting a foreign object caught in the window, when the relative velocity decrease detected by a first relative velocity detector is greater than a first reference value, with the window in a safety control range; and a second velocity detector to detect a yielding foreign object caught in the window. When a plurality of successive changes in closing velocity of the window are detected and the sum of the changes calculated by calculator is greater than a second reference value, a release instruction is given to the motor driving circuit based on the detection result of the first or second detecting means to stop or drive the motor in an opening direction, thereby ensuring stable detection of the foreign object, even if it is soft, and to prevent the foreign object from being caught in the window.

  • Patent number: 5980331
Abstract: A connector assembly having a receiving housing, a fitting housing and a retainer. The fitting housing is inserted into the receiving housing and is held in engagement position by the retainer. However, if one or more electrical terminals, within cavities in the fitting housing, is not fully inserted into its locked position, the retainer is held in a temporary position wherein a portion thereof projects outwardly of the fitting housing. This portion engages the end face of the receiving housing. The end face is preferably perpendicular to the insertion direction or at an acute angle thereto. As a result, the receiving housing does not distort even if excessive insertion force is applied to the fitting housing and/or the retainer.

  • Patent number: 5980328
Abstract: A connector assembly for attachment to a substrate wherein an engagement element is on one of the housing and the terminal and a stabilizer, complementary thereto, is on the other, thereby restraining the terminal from movement in any direction perpendicular to the insertion direction. Alternatively, a restriction piece is attached to--or part of--the housing so that it retains the attachment end of the terminal within the housing until it is ready to be attached to the substrate. In this way, the opportunities for damage or distortion of the terminal are minimized.
