Abstract: The instant invention relates to a rubber lubricant composition characterized by complete wetting of the elastomer surface both before and after vulcanization which gives a matte finish on cooling down that remains soft and does not flake off and which washes off easily after molding whereby there is little of no ooze after several months storage. This comprises (1) polyoxypropylene-polyoxyethylene block copolymer having a molecular weight of the hydrophobe of about 1000 to 12,000 and containing 40 to 80 percent oxyethylene groups and (2) an alkyl phenol ethoxylate.
Abstract: This invention relates to thickened high-viscosity water based hydraulic fluids. Such fluids are prepared by blending water, organic thickener and conventional hydraulic fluid additives. Organic thickeners tend to lose their thickening effect with time, and particularly when subjected to oxidizing agents, heat, prolonged use in a pump, etc. In accordance with the instant invention, preservation of the thickener, particularly with respect to viscosity loss, is achieved by blending with the final fluid a fluid concentrate, or the thickener itself, a compound selected from the group consisting of ethylene glycol, propylene glycol, propylene glycol polymers and copolymers containing at least 50 percent by weight of oxypropylene groups, a dimercaptothiadiazole, neodecanoic acid, a hindered phenol antioxidant and mixtures thereof.

Abstract: A phthalic anhydride product having a particle configuration made up of a mixture of spheroids, needle-like crystals, and amorphous particles is produced by feeding molten phthalic anhydride at a temperature between 131.degree. and 155.degree. into a spray nozzle in a closed cycle congealing chamber. The molten phthalic anhydride is discharged from the spray nozzle into a co-current or counter-current flow of inert gas at a temperature between -10.degree. and 70.degree. C., in order to congeal the product, which is then removed and transferred to a hopper or other storage means. For nozzle orifices having a diameter from 1 to 4 mm, discharge pressures of between 10 and 300 pounds per square inch are employed.
Abstract: Disclosed is an improved rotary drum vacuum filter that is especially useful in the filtration of particulates that form an easily eroded cake. The improved filter utilizes sprayers and a spray blocking means to achieve an unexpectedly efficient rinse of the cake.
