Abstract: An improved golf club wherein a plurality of weights are removably attached to the free end of the club shaft in alignment with the shaft axis in order to place the center of gravity of the club closer to the hand-grippable region of the shaft.
Abstract: A locking gun rack for vehicle mounting includes a slidable member for holding a latch member in locking position and a bolt lock for holding the slidable member in locked position and also includes slots for receiving the square shank of a carriage bolt which is threaded into a stationary member. The slot prevents rotation of the carriage bolt in the rack locked position and permits rotation of the carriage bolt in the rack unlocked condition. The latch member has a tongue extending through a slot in the slidable member and a lug engageable behind the slot in the locked condition.
Abstract: Apparatus for automatically purging the primary reservoir in an evaporative cooler which utilizes a secondary reservoir supplied with a portion of the output flow of the recirculating pump. The primary and secondary reservoirs each contain drain valves actuated when the fluid level therein exceeds a predetermined level. The normal operating fluid level in the primary reservoir is established below the drain level. When the secondary reservoir is filled and drains, its flow is directed into the primary reservoir causing it to exceed its fluid drain level and thus automatically purge the primary reservoir of fluid.
Abstract: A hand-held carrier for containers which encircles a portion of the container and is maintained in place by the weight of the container. The handle is rotatably affixed to the encircling means to provide ready engagement and disengagement of the carrier.
Abstract: A dual container portable water conditioner for domestic use wherein the containers are removably coupled in a vertical position and include flow diversion means therein to reduce channeling of the conditioning medium.
Abstract: An inexpensive owner installable remotely controlled drain valve for the crankcase of a motor vehicle utilizing a valve having a rotatable stem therein. Rigid extensions with universal joints therebetween are coupled between the valve stem and a locking means located under the hood of the vehicle. Rotation of the free end of the device opening and closing the valve to permit controlled drainage of the crankcase.
Abstract: Pollen collecting apparatus for placement at different levels within a segmented bee colony. The apparatus includes a centrally located pollen trap with an overlying scraper and pollen tray wherein both trapping, non-trapping and pollination enhancing operations can be performed by changing the position or orientation of the scraper without removing the apparatus from the colony.
Abstract: An asepticizing case for the storage and transport of soft contact lenses wherein each lens is confined on a curved surface in a fluid environment without the direct application of force thereto. A flexible skirt having a smaller radius of curvature than that of the lens receiving surface is affixed to the cap to insure the positioning of each lens.
Abstract: An optimum coupling unit for joining adjacent sections of coaxial cable and a coupled radiating antenna includes different diameters of the dielectric material, different diameters of central conductor and different values of the dielectric constant material in order to provide impedance matching at any section of the coupler including the coupled antenna to the impedance of the coaxial cable. The coupling unit is combined with the antenna as an integral unit. The antenna may be a dipole whose elements are coupled to the coupling unit through a parallel plate transmission line. Impedance matches are maintained at each coupling point.
Abstract: Pollen trapping apparatus for placement at different levels within a segmented bee colony. The apparatus includes a centrally located pollen trap with an overlying scraper wherein both trapping and non-trapping operations can be performed by changing the position or orientation of the scraper without removing the apparatus from the colony.
Abstract: An intrusion detection system includes a transmitter of wave energy at one end of a transmission line or coaxial cable, for example, and a receiver connected directly to the transmission line or a cable at the other end together with a series or discrete antennas uniformly spaced along the transmission line and relatively loosely coupled thereto. The coupling between the antennas and the transmission line or coaxial cable is determined to be of an optimum value and in such a system the sensitivity to an intrusion is the same along the length of the coaxial cable or transmission line for the same distance from the transmission line.
Abstract: A solar collector formed of lightweight concrete wherein zones of higher and lower density concrete are used to form the integral unitary structure. The collector is suspended from an absorber pipe by support means included in the high density zones of concrete.
Abstract: A system responsive to engine manifold pressure for monitoring engine operating efficiency and reducing engine load during periods of low operating efficiency is disclosed. The system includes a switch which actuates a first relay when manifold vacuum pressure drops below a threshold level. In this condition, the first relay activates a time delay relay in the control circuit of the air conditioning compressor to remove this load from the engine after a first interval and maintain it in the off condition for a second interval.
Abstract: Apparatus to be mounted on a cartop for raising a wheelchair from the driver's seat and orienting and engaging the wheelchair for transport on the roof. The supporting base is mounted on the roof with an overlying frame rotatably mounted to the base above the driver's position. The frame is biased to rotate outwardly of the car and a cable is used to raise the wheelchair, engage the frame for rotation and change the attitude of the chair so that it is flat-lying and engaged by the frame for transport.
Abstract: A thermal drift compensation circuit for operational amplifiers wherein a second operational amplifier is utilized to sense the error voltage between the input terminals of a first operational amplifier and generate a current therefor which compensates for errors resulting from thermal effects within the first operational amplifier.
Abstract: A safety cradle for facilitating repair of pad-mounted electrical transformers wherein a cradle having a base and a back support is rotatably mounted on a frame. The transformer is placed on the base, secured in place and the cradle rotated 90 degrees so that the front surface of the transformer is horizontal and repairs may be readily made.

Abstract: An alarm system for detecting the pattern of acoustic signals resulting from the breaking of glass utilizes transducers to convert the acoustic waves to electrical signals and then analyzes the signal strength, the frequency content and the pattern of the signal and no signal intervals to discriminate the breaking of glass from background or spurious noises. The system also determines the level of background noise and compensates therefor in determining whether an alarm signal is to be generated.
