  • Patent number: 6080972
Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for automatically programming and controlling an oven, such as a food oven. The oven and its controller can be remotely operated over great distances by using a personal computer having a modem, and transmitting and receiving bidirectionally over a telephone interconnection, to display the cooking progress, modify a cooking sequence or prepare a new program sequence. An ergonomically designed operating panel provides an interactive intuitive method of programming the desired cooking sequences. Switch selections are monitored by a microprocessor which branches to the various preprogrammed functions. In addition, self-analysis and self-diagnostics aid the user in displaying a walk-back of the stored times and temperatures that occurred during an operating cycle before a power outage. A novel integrated oven design conserves the floor space and exhaust fan floor installation and operating costs.

  • Patent number: 6066932
Abstract: A motor reversal protection system to protect driven equipment from the inadvertent or accidental reversal of direction of a three-phase electric motor should there be a reversal of phase in the transmission power lines by transposing any pair of the three power lines. The system detects the phase sequence of the applied power and automatically provides the driven equipment with the correct phase sequence within milliseconds of depressing the motor start push button. The need for a system reset is obviated in using this novel system design. The same principles of operation also apply for use with two-phase or DC power systems.

  • Patent number: 5975106
Abstract: The present invention relates to a novel single acting, valve closing actuator that when actuated is capable of closing an attached existing plug or gate valve, one that opens and closes within one quarter turn of operation. The newly designed actuator is cylindrically quadrant shaped and utilizes an extensible air bladder to actuate an internal rigid vane, causing the attached vane shaft to rotate, thereby closing a connected existing valve. In the preferred embodiment, the air bladder is comprised of a laminate of silicone rubber bonded to an exterior coating made of Kevlar. In an alternative embodiment, two air bladders are used to provide a double acting actuator, where a remote valve reset can be accomplished. Independent stand-alone operation is provided by using a pressurized source of CO.sub.2 to inflate the air bladder and a rechargeable battery to operate the air solenoids.

  • Patent number: 5964054
Abstract: This present invention relates to apparatus for use in hunting wild game animals and waterfowl, and more particularly to a weapon mounted wild animal game caller. This weapon mounted wild animal game caller finds particular application in attracting deer. It may be conveniently mounted and attached to an archery bow or to a hunting firearm. The game caller emits a grunting sound which is know to attract game animals, such as deer. The use of the grunter is very desirable for short range hunting making it the choice for many bow hunters. The activation of sound is accomplished by a novel air bladder that is filled with a resilient filamentous polyester type fiber. When mounted to an archers bow, it is easily operated with the hand even with a fully drawn bow. In an alternative embodiment, the game caller uses an electronic recording system to store a plurality of prerecorded calls, such as deer, geese, duck and the like.

  • Patent number: 5938316
Abstract: An enhanced safety system for the conversion of luminaria that uses halogen lighting technology to a safe and efficient fluorescent lighting system. Quartz halogen bulbs operate at elevated temperatures and pressures. Fires have been known to have been started when a lighting fixture is accidentally toppled where some combustible material is in close proximity. This novel retrofit system provides for the safe and efficient operation of torchiere uplighted lighting systems. By retrofitting a lighting fixture to a fluorescent lamp using this adapter, there is an immediate benefit in reduced operating cost. For the equivalent light output, there can be a cost savings reduction by a factor of six or seven to one.

  • Patent number: 5909842
Abstract: A machine for container formation by folding a die-scored paperboard structure to close flaps shaped by the scoring that serve as the top and bottom of the container. A scored paperboard sheet is loaded onto a male pedestal inner pattern such that the foldable top and bottom container portions extend beyond the pattern, whereupon armature driven semicircular outer patterns, having upper and lower fingers adapted to be driven by corresponding fluid driven pin stabilizers, close upon the sheet. While closed over the sheet, the pins are activated to move the fingers inward on the inner pattern and force fold the container along the score lines, followed by automatic retraction of the pins and outer patterns. The container is thus pre-folded in preparation for shipping as a flat paper form that is ready for folding on the crease lines thus formed. One or both flaps of the container can be folded along the crease lines to form a closure at one or both ends.

  • Patent number: 5898374
Abstract: A galvanic cell is formed when ground water within a sump reservoir, tub or other pool, rises to contact electrodes constructed of dissimilar metals, the electrodes mounted in a bridge, with recessing, expansion brackets, to facilitate covering the sump hole and including an alarm device adapted to provide a warning signal should the water level exceed a predetermined level to contact the electrodes. Because an unsealed sump well is the major point of entry of radon gas, an scintillator with associated circuitry monitors the sump well to protect against the undesirable intrusion of radon gas. When the presence of radon is detected, an audible alarm is sounded when the level exceeds 4 picocuries per liter (4 pCi/L.).

  • Patent number: 5889338
Abstract: An automotive internal combustion engine demagnetizer that can improve engine performance by reducing the magnetic drag associated with the operation of the engine. By demagnetizing the engine block while the engine is running contributes to improved efficiency and performance. The demagnetizer is designed to be retrofitted onto a standard automobile having a conventional engine. A high current short duration repetitive rectangular pulse passing through the engine block serves to demagnetize it. It also allows metal particles both large and micro in size to stick to the engine block and other moving parts. This collection of particles contributes to engine failure and to the ultimate life of the engine. When the engine is not running, the present invention eliminates or reduces all magnetism in the engine block, causing almost all metal particles to fall into the crankcase that contains the oil. When the oil is drained, these particles are removed and discarded with the oil.
