  • Patent number: 6893594
Abstract: Novel window and patio door frame members are formed by an extrusion process that provide these members with at least one channel and with an outer weather resistant surface and an internal imitation wood surface together with integrated sealing strips formed in the channels for the doors, these components being fully integrated. The process is carried out by extruding a foamed profile with a channel through a first die therein having reduced dimensions where a protective shell is desired, co-extruding a plastic with said foamed profile in a second die to form a protective shell where the reduced dimensions occur, passing the co-extrusion though a calibration die, and then heating the co-extrusion at selected location where weather stripping is desired and then passing the co-extrusion through a final die where plastic weather stripping is extruded therewith and then cooling the integrated member.

  • Patent number: 6871403
Abstract: An improved hair razor includes a cylindrical barrel forming the first part of an elongated handle having a razor blade holder joined to one end thereof, a tubular member forming the second part of the elongated handle having a finger ring formed therein, and an armature means connecting other ends the first part and the second part of the elongated handle in axial alignment, the armature means operable to allow the first part and the second part to rotate relative to each other and selectively lock the first part and the second part against rotation at a plurality of positions. The multiple positions available for the finger ring orientation lessens fatigue and stress of beauticians and barbers using the novel razor.

  • Patent number: 6832790
Abstract: In a three piece coupling which has bushing with internal and external threads for assembly on a threaded end of a conduit by its internal threads, a sleeve adapted to fit over a second conduit to be joined by the coupling with internal threads operable to engage the external threads of the bushing to advance the sleeve on the bushing when it is rotated and a collar sized to fit within the sleeve without restricting its rotation, the collar having internal threads for assembly on a threaded end of the second conduit to be connected with the coupling and retained in the sleeve so that the collar is advanced with the sleeve, the improvement including a first seal operable to effect a water tight seal between the bushing and the sleeve and a second seal operable to effect a second water tight seal between the sleeve and a conduit connected to the collar by mechanical compression whereby the coupling joins the conduit components in a water tight joint without rotating the components and without losing conductivit

  • Patent number: 6505945
Abstract: A hand held mirror unit for use in beauty salons includes a planer housing, a mirror mounted in housing in a parallel relationship to the housing and a pair of handles extending from the planer housing on opposite sides of the housing with the handles having a cross-section exceeding the combined thickness of the planer housing and the mirror whereby neither said housing nor said mirror will contact a flat surface of a counter on which the unit is resting through engagement of the handles, along with a non-skid coating on the handles to prevent the mirror from sliding on such a flat surface.

  • Patent number: 6412116
Abstract: An article, such as a cape, with an adjustable magnetic collar closure includes an cloth portion having a collar formed therein with pockets formed in each end of the collar, a flexible magnetic strip inserted into one of the pockets and a separate flexible magnetic strip inserted into the other pocket whereby over lapping said magnetic strips inserted into the pockets of the collar will hold said collar closed around the neck of a person using the article due to magnetic attraction between said strips clamping the fabric of the cape there between. The article or cape may include means for releaseably retaining the magnetic strips in the pockets whereby these strips can be removed when the article is laundered, or closures for permanently retaining the magnetic strips in the pockets of the collar of the article.

  • Patent number: 6382216
Abstract: A hair brush with a body having bristles extending therefrom for brushing hair and a tubular handle connected to the body which handle has a bore disposed normal to its longitudinal axis adjacent to its distal end along with a blind aperture extending from its distal end into the handle, generally along its longitudinal axis; plus a hair pick with a circular opening therein which pick is configured to snugly fit into the blind aperture and so that its opening will register with the bore in the handle. As a result the brush can be conveniently supported on a hook or like device utilizing the bore in the handle while the pick is inserted, and the pick can be easily removed when the brush is in use.

  • Patent number: 6380272
Abstract: Structural members for doors and the like can be manufactured from plastic foamed composites containing wood flour by the steps of (1) dry mixing a blend of powders including PVC powder, wood flour, powdered thermal stabilizers, powdered foaming agent and a powdered gelatinization agent, (2) adding the mixed powder to a thermal stirring mixer to obtain a homogeneous dispersion of the several powders (3) transferring the homogeneous dispersion of powders to a cold stirring mixer and stirring at speeds sufficient to avoid agglomeration of the homogeneous dispersion of the several powders and (4) placing the non-agglomerated homogeneous dispersion of the several powders in a feeding hopper of an extrusion machine and extruding shapes for the desired components. The vacuum venting of the extrusion machine can be controlled to achieve components with more desirable surface features. Lubricants can be added to the homogeneous dispersions of the several powders to aid in the extrusion process.
