Abstract: Novel fluorescent polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) colorants are provided. The colorants are strongly fluorescing and long lasting with excellent light stability. The novel colorants can be prepared from chromophores found in common pigments and provide a simple way to convert an insoluble pigment into a soluble fluorescent colorant.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to polymeric compounds comprising a main backbone derived from at least the following monomeric components: (I) 20 to 99.9% by weight, preferably 50% to 99% by weight, of at least one cationic monomer according to formula (I), and (II) 0.1 to 80% by weight of a hydrophobic unsaturated nonionic monomer that polymerizes in the presence of an initiator, optionally a water-soluble monomer (III) different from either monomer (I) and monomer (II), and optionally a crosslinking agent (IV). Said compounds are particularly useful to overcome the problem of dye bleeding and/or dye transfer in laundry processes.
Abstract: The invention relates to a coating having a thickness of from 5 to 25 ?m, comprising a high-molecular-weight organic material and from 5 to 9 g/m2 colored pigments, wherein, based on the total amount of colored pigments, (a) from 30 to 90% by weight of 3,6-di(4?-biphenyl)-2,5-dihydro-pyrrolo[3,4-c]-pyrrole-1,4-dione having a specific surface area of from 20 to 50 m2/g and (b) from 10 to 70% by weight of a further organic colored pigment, selected from the series consisting of quinacridone, diketo-pyrrolo[3,4-c]-pyrrole, dioxazine, indanthrone, perylene, phthalocyanine and 3-amino-1H-isoindol-1-one-oximatometal complex pigments and solid solutions and mixtures thereof, are present.
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of printing sheet-form substrates by the inkjet printing process, which method comprises printing those materials with an aqueous ink comprising a) at least one dye of formula wherein R1 and R2 are each independently of the other hydrogen or unsubstituted or substituted C1–C4alkyl, R3 and R4 are each independently of the other unsubstituted or substituted C1–C4alkyl, R5 and R6 are each independently of the other C1–C4alkyl, C1–C4alkoxy, halogen, hydroxy, carboxy, C2–C4alkanoylamino or sulfo, X is halogen, hyrodroxy, C1–C4alkoxy that is unsubstituted or substituted in the alkyl moiety, phenoxy that is unsubstituted or substituted in the phenyl ring, C1–C4alkylthio that is unsubstituted or substituted in the alkyl moiety, phenylthio that is unsubstituted or substituted in the phenyl ring, amino, N-mono-, or N, N-di-C1–C6alkylamino that is unsubstituted or substituted in the alkyl moiety and uninterrupted or interrupted in the alkyl moiety by oxygen, C5–C7cycloaklylamino th
Abstract: The instant invention discloses a process for the preparation of compounds of the formula I: wherein the general symbols are as defined in claim 1, which process comprises reacting a compound of formula II: wherein the general symbols are as defined in claim 1, with a compound of the formula III: wherein R5 is as defined in claim 1. The compounds of the formula II are new and useful as stabilizers for protecting organic materials, in particular synthetic polymers, reprographic materials or coating materials against oxidative, thermal or light-induced degradation.
