Abstract: A method for manufacturing a heat sink for use in a heat sink fan is provided. A heat-sink base portion defining a central axis and a circumferential surface is formed. A plurality of heat-radiating fins is formed on the circumferential surface of the base portion. Each of the heat radiating fins extends away from the central axis and defines at least one radially distal edge. After the base portion and the heat-radiating fins are formed, a distal-edge protrusion or a recess is formed on or in at least one of the heat radiating fins by a machining process, so as to form partially along the envelope of the heat sink at least one discrete engagement feature.

  • Patent number: 7265467
Abstract: A fluid dynamic pressure bearing having a tapered seal part provided between a sleeve and a housing, from which lubricating liquid is injected and functions as a buffer of the lubricating liquid. An end part of a radial gap between the sleeve and a shaft body is a labyrinth filled with lubricating liquid. An opening periphery is covered with an oil repellent film to prevent outflow of the lubricating liquid. These features can make the size of the tapered seal part small in the axial direction. It enables a larger radial dynamic pressure bearing mechanism to be formed and, in particular, bearing rigidity in the radial direction can be increased.

  • Patent number: 7220678
Abstract: A method for etching a silicon substrate is presented in which fast etching speed and etching structures with smooth and perpendicular wall surfaces are achieved. In the etching step, a constant electric power is applied to the silicon substrate to provide a bias potential. Using a mixture of SF6 gas and fluorocarbon gas, there is a step mainly for the progression of dry etching of the etching ground surface. Similarly, using a mixture gas, there is a step mainly for forming a protective layer on the structure surfaces which are perpendicular with respect to the etching ground surface. These two steps are repeated one after the other. In the step for dry etching, the mixture gas is 5–12 volume of fluorocarbon gas with respect to 100 volume SF6 gas. The mixture gas in the protective film formation step is a mixture of 2–5 volume of SF6 gas with respect to 100 volume fluorocarbon gas.

  • Patent number: 7118278
Abstract: A suitable the inner point is set on a vapor-liquid face of lubricating fluid formed in a composite capillary seal section that utilizes capillary force and rotational centrifugal force acted on the lubricating fluid. An inner peripheral surface of a ring-shaped portion is formed such that the minimum value R1 in radial-direction distances of the inner peripheral face of the ring-shaped portion becomes greater than a radial-direction distance R2 of the inner point (R1>R2). This can observe the inner point of the lubricating fluid from the immediately-above position, whereby the filling amount of the lubricating fluid can easily and surely be measured, thereby being capable of adjusting the filling amount of the lubricating fluid to a preset amount.
