Abstract: A binocular endoscope for diagnostic work, medical treatment and surgical procedures providing depth perception in the image of an object viewed. Image transmittal from the viewed object to the viewing station is through a non-distorting, high resolution, optical system utilizing long path length lens means. Selectable field viewing through 360.degree. of continuous rotation, with preservation with image conformity, is achieved through the use of a dove prism in combination with mechanical linkage to compensate for rotation effects. The apparatus also includes field illumination means, fluid input and exhaust channels and a manipulable surgical element.
Abstract: A process for preparing a soy protein product having a high concentration of both solubilized carbohydrates and soluble protein, and being characterized by substantial freedom from bacterial activity, absence of objectionable beany flavor, light color, suitability for use in food preparations for human consumption, and enhanced palatability, wherein soybean material in the form of an aqueous slurry is first adjusted to an acid pH in the isoelectric range for the protein content of the material treated, or from about pH 3.5 to about pH 5.5, then subjected to steam injection to bring the temperature of the treated mass to the range of from about 225.degree. to about 400.degree. F, maintaining such temperature for a short time period, preferably from about 3 to about 30 seconds, to destroy viable bacteria and to solubilize carbohydrates. Residual steam is flashed, together with volatile constituents including objectionable flavor elements present in the soybean material.
Abstract: A stretcher-like table or cradle for use as a body support during radiological examination. The table includes means whereby it may be arcuately pivotally manipulated about each of two mutually perpendicular horizontal axes. For specific uses in mammographic procedures, the support surface or web of the table is provided with a cut-away areal zone through which the gravitationally suspended breast of the female subject depends. Selective and controlled pivotal tilting of the table makes precise orientational positioning of the suspended tissue feasible, so as to provide improved fidelity and enhanced diagnostic value for the radiographic film images produced.
Abstract: A molding apparatus for producing pellets from a fused material such as molten lead. The mold is characterized in that in use it is submersed in and then closed while in the molten mass. Thereafter, the closed mold is removed from the melt, cooled to set the casting, opened, and the pellet released. The apparatus obviates the pouring of hot molten metal into a gated cavity. Additional important features of the assembly include a novel camming lever which ensures complete and positive closure of the mold, and an annular arrangement of guide bars or ribs which extend tangentially from an outer edge of one of the mold elements to facilitate the alignment and positive seating and sealing of the mold halves when the mold is closed.
Abstract: A solid lubricant consisting of metals combined with a high lubricity salt fabricated in pellet form and introduced into the fuel reservoir of an internal combustion engine. The pellet slowly disintegrates to produce extremely minute solid particles which are dispersed in the fuel and delivered to the fuel-contacting engine parts of the engine to deposit a lubricant film thereon.
Abstract: Apparatus and method for the recovery, reconstitution and recyclization of a gaseous mixture used as a sterilizing medium. A recycle line interconnects a gas condenser with a sterilization chamber to return a portion of the gases discharged from the chamber, thus avoiding excessive gas losses through venting and ensuring that the pressure in the chamber remains above a selectable predetermined minimum. This eliminates the need for a vacuum pump and obviates expansive explosion of sealed packages contained in the sterilization chamber. The system also uses a liquid ring compressor provided with a special liquid sealant comprising a polyhydric alcohol.

Abstract: A marksmanship target presenting a plurality of targets to view by competing marksmen. When a marksman's missile strikes a target on a side of a shield assigned to him, that target shifts to his opponent's side. Each target is provided with a cushion adapted to strike a plate, thereby damping movement and preventing rebound of the struck target. Each target is integrally formed with a narrow, forwardly extending lip and several annularly spaced, shock absorbing ribs secured to a marginal edge of the target and connecting the target to a support arm.
