  • Patent number: 5901961
Abstract: A system and particular components are disclosed to measure the reaction time of a user from a signal to start an athletic activity to the start of that activity and the completion time from the start to the finish of that activity. A remote control device responsive to manual input initiates a start signal and a signal to direct that activity toward one or more sensor pads to a user and to a data processor. One or more floor pads sense the presence of the user and signal the user's non-presence to the data processor. One or more sensor pads positioned spacedly distant from the floor pads sense manual contact by the user and signal that event to the data processor. The data processor determines the reaction time and the completion time of an activity from the times of the received signals, annunciates these times in visually cognizable form and stores the data.

  • Patent number: 5860243
Abstract: A torch disperses an explosive mixture of pressurized oxygen and petroleum gas into the burrow of a rodent for subsequent ignition to destroy rodents in the burrow. The torch provides a configurationally sustaining enclosed dispersement system with an elongate body formed sequentially by a mixer, a gas conduit having a valve to regulate gas passage therethrough and an output nozzle insertable into an entry orifice of a rodent burrow. An ignition system supported on the dispersement system provides an electrically powered spark plug carried in the output nozzle to ignite gases therein. The oxygen and petroleum gases are mixed in determinable proportions and pass through and from the distribution system by reason of gas pressure. The gas channel through the torch is not open to the ambient atmosphere except at the orifice of the output nozzle and a flash guard valve carried inwardly adjacent the output nozzle prevents an explosion in the output nozzle from passing inwardly into the gas conduit of the torch.

  • Patent number: 5797189
Abstract: A cutting tool and associated positioning templates locate and cut rectangular junction box holes in dry wall or similar sheet material forming structural surfaces. Templates defining a medial positioning slot and providing a spaced pair of positioning pins are carried by pre-established junction boxes and surface sheeting material is established thereover with the positioning pins projecting through the sheet material to indicate positioning slot location. The tool provides a body articulately carrying two perpendicular pairs of spaced parallel saw blades that are moved reciprocably by spring biased driving linkage to cut rectilinear holes in the sheet material over the junction boxes. The saw blades have arcuate edges defining cutting teeth of opposite pitch on each side of the arcuate edge of the tool to aid positional maintenance and prevent chatter during cutting.

  • Patent number: 5791837
Abstract: A tool for cutting holes in metal provides a shank defining at one end an arbor releasably carrying a circularly annular cutter that defines teeth at each cutter end which may be sequentially used to extend cutter life without sharpening. The annular cutter defines a plurality of spirally arrayed, inwardly extending flutes and alternating outwardly extending lands on both inner and outer sides to provide cutting edges on both cutter sides at each end. The lands are formed with buttress type sides angulated ten to sixty degrees to a radius passing therethrough steeper spiral arrays of lands and grooves are arrayed in shallower spirals with an angle of up to seventy degrees to the axis of the cutter to allow thinner wall construction in my cutter than in prior cutters. The thinner cutter wall allows definition of more cutting teeth than would thicker walls and the cutter configuration allows definition of stronger, more efficient teeth without gullets.
