  • Patent number: 5337704
Abstract: An improved cooling system for an internal combustion engine in an automotive vehicle which utilizes recirculating liquid coolant and provides an initial engine warm-up flow circuit extending: from a coolant pump, through cooling passages in the cylinder head, through a heat exchanger used to warm a passenger compartment, and back to the pump whereby a temperature responsive flow control valve or thermostat prohibits a flow of coolant from the cylinder head to cooling passages in the engine block which provides adequate cooling of the upper surfaces of the combustion chamber which are formed by the cylinder head while promoting a relatively rapid heating of the surfaces of the engine cylinders formed by the block.

  • Patent number: 5190322
Abstract: A cuff type air seal for sealing the overlap of partly telescoped parts that has an annular body of rubber or elastomer material having annular internal air sealing beads thereon which are adapted to fit on outer peripheral surfaces of the parts adjacent their overlap. Both parts have fixed outer diameters but the outer part may be a blow molded annular component having an internal diameter which varies so usually there is clearance and a potential air leak path at the overlap. An adjustable clamp encompasses the air seal and provides a constricting force so that the air sealing beads seal on the outer surfaces of the parts even though the clearance remains. The cuff is formed with a pocket that receives and retains a headed portion of the blow molded part when telescoped over the facing headed portion of the first part, particularly when the clamp is constricted.

  • Patent number: 5010781
Abstract: A retaining assembly for retaining a throttle and speed control cable to a cable mounting bracket. The retaining assembly includes a first end fitting on the speed control cable with spaced flanges which allow the first end fitting to slide into an aperture in the cable mounting bracket and prevent longitudinal movement of the first end fitting relative to the cable mounting bracket. The retaining assembly also includes a second end fitting on the throttle control cable with retaining clips which allow the second end fitting to snap into the aperture in the cable mounting bracket to prevent longitudinal movement of the second end fitting relative to the cable mounting bracket. The second end fitting also abuts the first end fitting to prevent the first end fitting from disengaging the cable mounting bracket.

  • Patent number: H1555
Abstract: A tool for visually indicating the relative crankshaft and piston position at top dead center for an internal combustion engine of the type having a threaded opening for a spark plug positioned above the piston's top surface. The tool consists of a base which has threads for attachment in the spark plug opening, an outer tubular member supported by the base to allow it to slide upward through the base in response to urging of the top of the piston moving toward the base but otherwise being frictionally secured to the base, and an inner member equal in the length dimension to the outer member and supported by the outer member in a manner allowing it to initially move upward with the outer tubular member as urged by the piston but also allowing it to move with the piston away from the base and the outer member whereby changes in the alignment of the exterior ends of the members indicates piston movement past top dead center.
