  • Patent number: 5442361
Abstract: A microwave transceiver using a reflection pumped mixer includes an electromagnetic signal generator, a subreflector, a reflector of electromagnetic signals from the subreflector, a mixer, circulator, and processing circuitry to relate electromagnetic signal frequency differences to the range of a target from the transceiver. Such frequency differences are detected by the mixer from the captured electromagnetic signals reflected distant targets and reflected electromagnetic signals from the subreflector.

  • Patent number: 5347910
Abstract: A target acquisition system for a mobile air defense system is capable of acquiring and engaging targets in rapid sequence while mounted on a moving vehicle. It incorporates a gyrostabilized turret drive system, an optical sight, a forward looking infrared scanner, an infared guided missile subsystem, an onboard computer, and system controls and displays. The turret drive will maintain a particular elevation and azimuth regardless of the motion of the vehicle on which the turret is mounted so that the target tracking system need not account for movement of the vehicle over the ground. The optical sight projects a set of reticles on a combining glass in front of the gunner, which shows the target on which the missile seeker is locked as well as the target at which the turret is pointed so that gunner can insure that the missile is locked on the correct target.

  • Patent number: 5325810
Abstract: A fluid leak detection apparatus identifies the location of a fluid leak in a fluid containing vessel. The apparatus includes a wick having a sensing portion and a transmission portion. The sensing portion contacts a selected area of the fluid containing vessel. The transmission portion extends from the sensing portion to transmit by capillary action leaked fluid from the fluid containing vessel. • Patent number: 5123327
Abstract: An automatic turret tracking apparatus utilizes error signals from the missle tracking system to control the turret elevation and azimuth positions so that the turret can automatically track the target position without requiring active tracking activity by the gunner. This enables the gunner to concentrate on control and communication, eliminates gunner errors and optimizes gunner performance in high-speed/low-altitude engagements.

  • Patent number: 5034254
Abstract: A repair patch for damaged sections of panels made of composite materials, wherein the damaged section of the panel has been cut out by, for example, a hole cutting saw, includes a bolt which is inserted through the hole and a rigid washer on the bolt, of about the same diameter as the hole. A flexible washer, substantially larger than the hole, is pushed through the hole and the rigid washer bears against it. The flexible washer has radiating flukes, extending from a central hub region, which can bend when the flexible washer is pushed through the hole, and then spring back to about their original shape on the blind-side. One edge of the flukes is curved which causes the flukes to twist and present only one edge to the edge of the hole as the flexible washer is pushed through, to facilitate passage of the flexible washer through the hole.

  • Patent number: 4358016
Abstract: Document sorting apparatus for sorting documents having data characters recorded thereon into a selected one of a plurality of storage pockets depending upon the data characters. Sorter controllers, each associated with a pre-determined number of the storage pockets, are provided for controlling the gate mechanisms of the storage pockets within their respective control areas so as to direct the document into the selected one of the pockets. The sorter controllers comprise single cycle processors which execute program instructions stored in memory in implementing document tracking functions. Further, the sorter controllers are responsive to destination and sequential tracking numbers assigned to each document by a central processor for recognizing a document as being intended for a pocket within its control area.

  • Patent number: 4336037
Abstract: A continuous deaeration system for a fluid pump system includes a housing having an inlet port through which aerated fluid flows into the housing from a pump, an outlet port through which aerated fluid flows for recirculation in the fluid system, and a deaerated fluid outlet port through which virtually contaminant and air-free fluid flows to an ink jet printer apparatus. The housing encloses a filter element with appropriately sized interstices which continuously separates air and fluid contaminants from the flow of aerated fluid received from the inlet port of the housing. A reservoir, also within the housing, collects the contaminant free deaerated fluid and air separated from the deaerated fluid. The air-fluid mixture is transmitted to the outlet port of the housing while the virtually contaminant free deaerated fluid exits the housing through the deaerated fluid outlet port.

  • Patent number: 4325111
Abstract: A switched mode regulated DC to DC converter for supplying a regulated voltage to a load includes a switching frequency generator of a switching cycle having positive and negative portions. A device, responsive to the outputs of the switching frequency generator, accumulates a voltage during the positive and negative portions of the switching cycle. The demand for voltage by a load is sensed and circuitry generates a first and second trigger otuput during the respective positive and negative portion of the switching cycle when the accumulated voltage equals the sensed load voltage demand, the time required to generate the second trigger output being equal to the time required to generate the first trigger output. A transformer apparatus, responsive to the first and second generated trigger outputs, generates currents of positive and negative polarity during the positive and negative portions of the switching cycle.
