  • Patent number: 7534201
Abstract: A sheet conveying section (B) sequentially conveys a sheet (P) from a sheet feeding section (A), and a sheet folding section (D) folds the sheet (P) received from the sheet conveying section (B) in a conveying direction. The sheet conveying section (B) comprises a conveyer belt (3), and a positioning ruler (4) for positioning the sheet (P) while it is conveyed. The sheet folding section (D) comprises a folding knife (9), a pair of folding rollers (10), and first and second guides (11a, 11b) arranged on either side of the folding knife (9). The sheet (p) is positioned to a fold position by the first and second guides (11a, 11b) and folded by the folding knife (9) and the folding roller (10). The positioning ruler (4) is moved in a direction perpendicular to the conveying direction by a first driving mechanism (5, 6). The first and second guides (11a) are moved in the direction perpendicular to the conveying direction respectively by second and third driving mechanisms (21, 22; 23, 24).

  • Patent number: 7446822
Abstract: A lightweight, compact image projection module, especially for mounting in a housing having a light-transmissive window, is operative for causing selected pixels in a raster pattern to be illuminated to produce an image of high resolution of VGA quality in monochrome, color or gray scale. Pixel size is controlled as a function of distance of the image from the module to control image resolution and allow the image to remain sharp and clear over an extended range of distances from the module.

  • Patent number: 7222323
Abstract: A configurable hardware logic device is configured to implement a complete evolutionary algorithm in hardware. The configured hardware logic device produces an initial population of individuals, carries out fitness tests on the initial population of individuals, selects an individual or individuals of the initial population on the basis of results of the fitness tests, breeds a further population of individuals from the selected individual or individuals, and provides a single preferred selected individual from the further population of individuals.

  • Patent number: 6889904
Abstract: An image of a target in a far-field range of working distances relative to an image capture system is focused at a first group of sensors in a common, two-dimensional, array of sensors, and an image of an optical code in a near-field range of working distances relative to the system is focused at a second group of sensors in the array. The same array is shared in a portable apparatus capable of capturing target images and optical code images without moving any optical components.

  • Patent number: 6398112
Abstract: A scanning device for reading indicia of differing light reflectivity, including bar code or matrix array symbols, has a single light emitter, such as a laser or light emitting diode, for generating a scanning light beam to visually illuminate sequential portions of the indicia. A sensor, such as a charge coupled or other solid state imaging device, simultaneously detects light reflected from portions of the indicia and generates an electrical signal representative of the spacial intensity variations the portions of the indicia. The scanning device may also include an ambient light sensor, and a second light emitter for use only in aiming or orienting the scanning device. A photodetector may also be provided to separately detect one symbol virtually simultaneous with the detection of another symbol by the sensor or to provide dual modalities. A method for reading indicia is also provided.

  • Patent number: 5784261
Abstract: Low profile microchip module assemblies are formed by first mounting one or more active semiconductor integrated circuit chips on a multilayer metallization and dielectric structure on a substrate of, say, silicon or alumina, by wire bonding or flip-chip solder bonding, and then inverting the substrate and mounting it on a printed circuit board by means of solder bump connections. The solder bump connections are sufficiently high for the chips to be held clear of the printed circuit board.
