Abstract: Methods for localized thinning of wafers used in semiconductor devices and the structures formed from such methods are described. The methods thin localized areas of the backside of the semiconductor wafer to form recesses with a bi-directional channel design that is repeated within the wafer (or die) so that no straight channel line crosses the wafer (or die). The bi-directional pattern design keeps the channels from being aligned with the crystal orientation of the wafer. The recesses are then filled by a solder ball drop process by dropping proper size solder balls into the recesses and then annealing the wafer to reflow the solder balls and flatten them out. The reflow process begins to fill in the recesses from the bottom up, thereby avoiding void formation and the resulting air traps in the reflowed solder material. Other embodiments are also described.

Abstract: A flash memory controller includes a control unit, a buffer, an error correction code (ECC) module, and a configuring unit. The flash memory has a data area for storing the data content and a first spare area for storing a first ECC value corresponding to the data content. The ECC module utilizes the data content for generating a second ECC value and comparing the second ECC value with the first ECC value to determine whether the data content comprises a plurality of errors. The configuring unit computes the amount of the errors to determine whether the amount of the errors exceeds a predetermined threshold. If The configuring unit configures the data area and assigns a portion of the data area to be a second spare area. The first and the second spare area are associated with the ECC capability to allow the ECC module to correct the errors.

The switch circuit includes a plurality of switches configured to allow the plurality of charge pump capacitors connected in a hybrid parallel-series arrangement between the input terminal and the ground terminal or between the input terminal and the output terminal by selectively conducting a specified portion of the switches.
Abstract: A joint 10 is shown for transmission of torque between an input shaft 12 and an output shaft 14. In the form shown, the joint 10 comprises an outermost helical coil spring 16 and an innermost helical coil spring 18, both of which are connected at their respective opposite ends to the input shaft 12 and to the output shaft 14. The innermost helical spring 18 is arranged to be entirely located within, and co-axially aligned with, the outermost helical spring 16 along the same centerline. The springs 16, 18 are arranged to be counter wound relative to one another to provide delivery of torque in a stabilised manner reflected in a significant reduction in the vibration observed within the joint 10 during use. The joint 10 is also arranged for transmission of thrust (or axial force) between the input shaft 12 and the output shaft 14.
Abstract: A wheel mouse includes a first scroll wheel, a second scroll wheel, a first encoder, a second encoder and a control unit. The first encoder generates a first rotation signal according to the rotating condition of the first scroll wheel. The second encoder generates a second rotation signal according to the rotating condition of the second scroll wheel. The control unit is electrically connected to the first encoder and the second encoder for executing a corresponding function in response to the first rotation signal and the second rotation signal. The control unit executes a first function when only the first rotation signal is generated. The control unit executes a second function when only the second rotation signal is generated. The control unit executes a third function when the first rotation signal and the second rotation signal are simultaneously generated.

Abstract: A variable frequency controlling system of a shredder is provided. The variable frequency controlling system includes a thickness sensor, a speed-variable motor and a controlling module. The controlling module is electrically connected to the speed-variable motor and the thickness sensor, and includes a look-up table. The thickness sensor is used for detecting a thickness of an article fed into the shredder. The speed-variable motor is operated at a variable rotating speed. When a thickness-detecting signal is received by the controlling module, the operating data corresponding to the thickness-detecting signal are searched from the look-up table and outputted from the controlling module to the speed-variable motor, thereby controlling the speed-variable motor to be operated at a proper rotating speed. As a consequence, a power-saving purpose is achieved by the variable frequency controlling system.
Abstract: An automatic document feeder includes a top cover having a fixing structure and first attracting element, a sheet pick-up module and a second attracting element. The fixing structure and the first attracting element are disposed on an inner surface of the top cover. The sheet pick-up module includes a sheet pick-up arm. The sheet pick-up arm is rotated to either a standby position or a sheet feeding position. The second attracting element is disposed on the sheet pick-up arm. When the sheet pick-up arm is rotated to the sheet feeding position, the sheet pick-up module feeds the sheet into an internal portion of the automatic document feeder. When the sheet pick-up arm is rotated to the standby position, the first attracting element and the second attracting element are attracted by each other so that the sheet pick-up arm is fixed on the standby position.
Abstract: Systems and methods for producing an ozone destructor are disclosed herein. Generally, these systems and methods include an ozone destructor that has a housing defining an air passage duct. In some cases, this air passage duct includes a first chamber and a second chamber that are arranged so that air is able to flow into the first chamber, through the second chamber, and out of the destructor. In some cases, an air drying mechanism is disposed in the first and/or the second chamber. Additionally, in some cases, the ozone destructor further includes multiple mechanisms that reduce ozone to oxygen. In light of these features, the ozone destructor is capable of incrementally drying and reducing air and ozone, respectively, as they pass through the first chamber and the second chamber.

The inner periphery of the outer plate includes a plurality of recesses. A plurality of short heavy-duty compression springs are arranged to compress in a substantially-straight linear direction between respective projections of the inner plate and the respective side wall of the recess of the outer plate. The springs are further retained by spring travel limiting guides which protrude from the outer plate. The inner plate and an associated central shaft are positively supported by bushings and/or bearings which reside in outer retaining plates. These bushings and/or bearings retain the inner and outer plates in a fixed non-yielding radial and axial position. Bolts are used to hold the outer drive plate and the external retaining plates together.
Abstract: A low complexity acquisition method and a receiver implemented such a method are disclosed. In the present invention, a cyclical shifted-and-combined (CSC) code is generated by intercepting sub-codes from a full code and combining the sub-codes with an equal gain. The CSC code is correlated with a received signal to find a candidate peak. The other candidate peak(s) can be deduced accordingly. Thus, hypotheses can be significantly reduced. A true peak can be easily and rapidly found by verifying the candidate peaks.
