Abstract: An adjustable hand rail has a wall-mountable base member and a bar member which mounts to the wall-mountable base member, an axis is defined by the bar member. The bar member is manually rotatable with respect to the wall-mountable base member. The bar member has means for being selectively locked into any one of a plurality of different axial positions with respect to the wall-mountable base member, including a vertical axial position, a horizontal axial position, and various intermediate axial positions between the vertical axial position and the horizontal axial position.
Abstract: An instrument for endoscopic surgery includes a shaft having active and inactive portions, the active portion being reciprocable relative to the inactive portion. First and second operative elements are pivoted to the inactive portion of the shaft along substantially the same longitudinal plane. A handpiece includes an active and inactive branch hinged together, movement of the active and inactive branches of the handpiece together or apart shifting the active portion of the shaft relative to the inactive portion of the shaft.
Abstract: Process and equipment for rapid and reliable infusion of treatment substances into a liquid mainstream. The equipment includes diversion of some of the liquid, boosting its pressure into an aspirating injector, which adds treatment substance and in turn discharges to a pair of opposed nozzles that inject the diversion stream with treatment substances back into the mainstream flow.
Abstract: A universal offset pulling head assembly for exerting an axial pulling force on a fastener allows the same pulling head assembly to be utilized for a variety of different fastener sizes and types by exchanging a front plate assembly, where the front plate assembly may comprise variable nose pieces according to the type of fastener to be installed. Because the front plate assembly is subject to the most severe wear, other components of the pulling head assembly may continue to be utilized and the front plate assembly discarded. The disclosed pulling head assembly utilizes a stationary guiding member which prevents damage which might otherwise occur because of severe bending moments.
Abstract: In a musical instrument, such as a flat top guitar, having a sound chamber defined by a back, sides, and a soundboard, a beveled portion is generally placed in the bass side of the lower bout of the instrument. The beveled portion has one or more openings, or flutes, which are small, tube-like openings, half-rounded apertures or other penetrations extending from the interior to the exterior of the sound chamber. The bevel flutes are visually pleasing, and emit sound waves generally toward the ear of the musician.
Abstract: A method for delivering a pre-weighed package comprising sand, aggregate and dry cement to a mixing site comprises the steps of preparing a first mixture comprising fine aggregate and coarse aggregate at an offsite plant. The first mixture is placed into a first storage compartment of a hopper and the load of dry cement is placed into a second storage compartment of the hopper. The hopper is transported to the mixing site, where the first mixture and the cement are discharged from the hopper and mixed to form a concrete slurry. The hopper comprises the first storage compartment and the second storage compartment, where there is a water tight divider separating the first storage compartment and the second storage compartment. The storage compartments have respective inlets and outlets for receiving and discharging the respective components.
