  • Patent number: 7169126
Abstract: A catheter for use in an emboli containment system includes a flexible elongate member having self-expanding sealing means mounted on its distal extremity. This self-expanding sealing means can take any suitable form, such as a braided structure formed of a suitable shape memory material such as a nickel titanium alloy. In order to prevent abrasion of a vessel, it is desirable to cover the braided structure with a covering of a suitable material such as a polymer which extends over the braided structure and which moves with the braided structure as it expands and contracts.

  • Patent number: 7098105
Abstract: The invention includes a semiconductor structure having a gateline lattice surrounding vertical source/drain regions. In some aspects, the source/drain regions can be provided in pairs, with one of the source/drain regions of each pair extending to a digit line and the other extending to a memory storage device, such as a capacitor. The source/drain regions extending to the digit line can have the same composition as the source/drain regions extending to the memory storage devices, or can have different compositions from the source/drain regions extending to the memory storage devices. The invention also includes methods of forming semiconductor structures. In exemplary methods, a lattice comprising a first material is provided to surround repeating regions of a second material. At least some of the first material is then replaced with a gateline structure, and at least some of the second material is replaced with vertical source/drain regions.

  • Patent number: 7092429
Abstract: A multi-pass frequency hop timing acquisition correlator that produces a more accurate time estimate from the fast acquisition frequency hop signal is disclosed. The time estimate produced by the multi-pass acquisition correlator is more accurate than the ΒΌ hop estimate produced by single-pass fast acquisition correlators. The multi-pass frequency hop timing acquisition correlator uses a time estimate generated by a previous pass through the multi-pass frequency hop timing acquisition correlator as a starting point for computing a new, more accurate, time estimate. Thus, the second pass through the multi-pass frequency hop timing acquisition correlator produces a time estimate that is relatively more accurate than the time estimate produced by the first pass. The more accurate time estimate produced by the multi-pass acquisition correlator reduces the hardware and time needed by the direct acquisition process to acquire the M-code.

  • Patent number: 7037147
Abstract: A personal watercraft has a jet pump propulsion device. An engine powers the propulsion device and a control device controls engine speed. A steering mechanism steers a thrust direction of the propulsion device. An engine load sensor or an engine speed sensor senses an engine load or an engine speed, respectively. A steering position sensor senses an angular position of the steering mechanism. The control device decreases engine speed when the engine load or the engine speed is greater than a preset engine load or the engine speed, respectively, and the angular position of the steering mechanism is greater than a preset angular position.

  • Patent number: 7032914
Abstract: A continuously variable transmission is disclosed for use in rotationally or linearly powered machines and vehicles. The single axle transmission provides a simple manual shifting method for the user. An additional embodiment is disclosed which shifts automatically dependent upon the rotational speed of the wheel. Further, the practical commercialization of traction roller transmissions requires improvements in the reliability, ease of shifting, function and simplicity of the transmission. The disclosed transmission may be used in vehicles such as automobiles, motorcycles, and bicycles. The transmission may, for example, be driven by a power transfer mechanism such as a sprocket, gear, pulley or lever, optionally driving a one way clutch attached at one end of the main shaft.

  • Patent number: 6998305
Abstract: A method of forming an electronic component having elevated active areas is disclosed. The method comprises providing a semiconductor substrate in a processing chamber. The semiconductor substrate has disposed thereon a polycrystalline silicon gate and exposed active areas. The method further comprises performing a deposition process in which a silicon-source gas is supplied into the processing chamber to cause polycrystalline growth on the gate and epitaxial deposition on the active areas. The method further comprises performing a flash etch back process in which polycrystalline material is etched from the gate at a first etching rate and the epitaxial layer is etched from the active areas at a second etching rate. The first etching rate is faster than the second etching rate. The deposition process and the flash etch back process can be repeated cyclically, if desired.

  • Patent number: 6877211
Abstract: A method of making a microelectronic package. The advanced microelectronic component package incorporates a specially shaped base element which holds and electrically separates the individual conductors associated with the microelectronic component(s) so that the individual conductors may be bonded to external package leads and other conductors within the package. In a first embodiment, jacketed, insulated wire is used as one winding of a toroidal transformer, while unjacketed insulated wire is used as another winding. The jacketing is stripped from the first winding and the exposed conductors are routed into channels along the sides of the base element. The unjacketed conductors are also routed into the same channels, where both conductors are bonded to the external package leads. Raised elements along the sides of the base provide the required electrical separation between the conductors during both manufacture and operation. A method of manufacturing the improved microelectronic package is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6824619
Abstract: Method and device for rotating a wafer which is arranged floating in a reactor. The wafer is treated in a reactor of this nature, and it is important for this treatment to be carried out as uniformly as possible. For this purpose, it is proposed to rotate the wafer by allowing the gas flow to emerge perpendicular to the surface of the wafer and then to impart to this gas a component which is tangential with respect to the wafer, thus generating rotation. This tangential component may be generated by the provision of grooves, which may be of spiral or circular design.

  • Patent number: 6709844
Abstract: Disclosed herein are improved plasmid shuttle vectors, vaccines based on them, and methods related to their construction and use. Particular arrangements of functional elements of such plasmids, namely origins of replication and eukaryotic transcription/translation control elements, which give rise to generally undesirable side-products upon propagation of the plasmids in bacterial culture are disclosed. These side-products apparently arise as terminated replication intermediates. Strategies both to eliminate accumulation of these side-products, and to make them useful as a vaccine adjuvant, are described.
