Abstract: Example methods and apparatus control ratios between a maximum gradient amplitude (MGA) of a readout lobe (GREAD) in a Cartesian continuous sampling read gradient (CSRG) and an MGA of a dephase lobe (GDEPHASE) in the CSRG and an MGA of a rephase lobe (GREPHASE) in the CSRG, where the direction of GREAD is opposite to the direction of GDEPHASE, and GREPHASE. One example method includes controlling an MR apparatus to produce a CS gradient where GREAD and GDEPHASE correspond to the first ratio and where GREAD and GREPHASE correspond to the second ratio. One example method includes controlling the MR apparatus to acquire an MR signal in response to the CS gradient. The MR signal is acquired during the read lobe and during a portion of the dephase lobe and/or the rephase lobe. The method includes selectively altering the ratios based on an SNR ratio associated with the MR signal.

Abstract: Systems, methodologies, media, and other embodiments associated with automatically adapting MRI controlling parameters are described. One exemplary method embodiment includes configuring an MRI apparatus to acquire MR signal data using a non-rectilinear trajectory. The example method may also include acquiring MR signals, transforming the MR signals into image data, and selectively adapting the MRI controlling parameters based, at least in part, on information associated with the MR signals.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and media associated with function-based index tuning for queries with expressions are described. One exemplary method includes receiving a query for which an index is to be recommended. The query may include an expression, thus the method may include identifying an expression in the query and generating a set of column statistics related to the expression. The method may also include identifying candidate function-based indexes associated with the query, generating a set of function-based index statistics related to the candidate function-based indexes, and recommending a candidate function-based index.

Abstract: A method to detect the location of a catheter relative to a targeted location in a blood vessel is provided. One example method includes acquiring and displaying magnetic resonance (MR) images while a first MR contrast agent is present and while the operation of that first MR contrast agent is counter-acted by a second MR contrast agent. Both MR contrast agents may be introduced into a blood vessel by the catheter whose position is to be detected.

Abstract: Systems, methodologies, media, and other embodiments associated with efficiently computing document similarity are described. One exemplary system embodiment includes logic to produce a gram from a string and logic to identify candidate documents based on identifying matches between query grams and document grams stored in an inverted index that relates grams to documents. The example system may also include logic to selectively partially reconstruct a candidate document from entries in the inverted index and logic to compute an edit distance between a string associated with a query and a string associated with the partially reconstructed candidate document. The example system may also include a signal logic configured to provide a signal corresponding to the edit distance.

Abstract: A heartbeat system and method is provided for a cluster system. In one embodiment, a heartbeat mechanism includes a quorum file for receiving heartbeat messages from the plurality of nodes. A network controller connects the quorum file to the plurality of nodes with a serial bus that establishes peer-to-peer and point-to-point device communication. A node map maintained by the network controller identifies active nodes based on signals from the serial bus. A status logic for determining a status of a node from the plurality of nodes by comparing heartbeat messages in the quorum file written by the node and the node map.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and other embodiments associated with automatically optimizing cyclic integration are described. One method embodiment includes repetitively acquiring a thermal intensity data using an infrared detector configured to operate for an integration time. The method embodiment may also include extracting a useable data from the intensity data and then updating a rolling composite image with the useable data. The method may also include selectively automatically updating the integration time based on whether the thermal intensity data included a value that fell outside the pre-determined range.

Abstract: Systems and methods using an image produced by a constrained image reconstruction process as a constraint in a forward iterative reconstruction process are described. One example system may include a constrained reconstruction logic to receive an initial data having an initial format and to produce an image data. The example system may include an iterative reconstruction logic that uses the image data as a constraint in a forward iterative step and that computes a correction factor based on comparing the image data to a reference data. The example system may include a deconstruction logic to deconstruct the image data into a deconstructed image data having the initial format and to selectively update the deconstructed image data based, at least in part, on the correction factor.

Abstract: Systems, methodologies, media, and other embodiments associated with identifying network communications of services are described. One example system embodiment includes a service identification logic configured to monitor execution of software of an application server and identify services being processed. The service identification logic can further include a logic configured to identify network communications associated with an identified service. The example system may also include a notification logic configured to notify one or more network devices to provide priority processing for the network communications associated with the identified service.

Abstract: Systems, methodologies, media, and other embodiments associated with browser based remote control of functional testing tools are described. One exemplary method embodiment includes receiving requests from a browser to control (e.g., start, stop) a functional testing tool. The example method may also include retrieving a test script to be an input for the functional testing tool and providing the test script to the functional testing tool. The example method is a server based method that resides logically between the browser and the functional testing tool.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and other embodiments associated with selecting access structures to support database queries are described. One exemplary method includes identifying basic configuration(s) of access structures and computing a net benefit for a configuration resulting from using these basic configurations. The method may include associating with a query a candidate basic configuration(s) selected from the basic configurations based on the net benefits computed for the basic configurations. The method may include associating the basic configuration having the lowest execution cost with the query and selectively replacing the basic configuration based on a shared cost(s). Example methods may use heuristics that synergistically cooperate to process complex workloads and to facilitate finding high-quality, low-cost configurations in both constrained-storage and non-constrained-storage cases.

Abstract: A system for providing text-to-speech conversion of a body of text is presented. The system includes a first executable resource which generates text portions from the body of text in response to receiving an initial web request to convert the body of text to speech and provides an output in response to generating the text portions comprising a sequence of resource identifiers suitable for use in the text-to-speech conversion of the text portions. The system further includes a second executable resource which receives a text portion web request that requests the conversion of at least one text portion to an audio format, the text portion web request comprising the at least one text portion and one of the resource identifiers, and further provides at least one media file suitable for audio output based on the text portion web request.

Abstract: A heartbeat system and method is provided for a cluster system. The cluster includes a plurality of nodes. The nodes access files on one or more data storage devices over a network. The system includes a quorum file that receives and stores heartbeat messages from the plurality of nodes indicating they are active. A network controller connects the quorum file to the plurality of nodes in accordance with IEEE 1394 communication protocol.

Abstract: A virtual private network device enables individual machines at a remote subnet to be visible and addressable from a central site by establishing a private address range for the remote machines, forming a virtual private network tunnel from the virtual private network device to the central site, and communicating the private address range to the central site to enable connections from the central site to individual machines on the remote subnet.
