  • Patent number: 6155588
Abstract: The tilting trailer hitch (10) includes a compressible main support assembly (22) having a hitch coupler (24) and a hitching mechanism (26) attached thereto. The hitch coupler (24) is configured to connect a towing connector (92) to a towing vehicle (94) and the hitching mechanism (26) is configured to couple with a trailer (12). An actuator (28) is pivotally connected to the main support assembly (22) in response to trailer loading and is operable to rotate part of the main support assembly (22), thereby raising or lowering the hitching mechanism (26) along a generally arcuate path (116). When the hitching mechanism (26) is in the raised position, a loading end (20) of the trailer (12) is lowered to assist in loading the trailer (12).

  • Patent number: 6152341
Abstract: A hitch carrier (20) utilizes a telescoping assembly (40) to shiftably mount a cargo unit (26) to a trailer hitch (32) of a vehicle (28). The cargo unit (26) moves between traveling and remote positions. In the remote position, the closure structure (30) of the vehicle (28) can swing open unobstructed by the cargo unit (26). The hitch carrier (20) has an automatic latch mechanism (36) having a pivoting latch (86) which automatically holds the cargo unit (26) in the remote position and automatically releases the cargo unit (26) when it is forced toward the vehicle (28). The hitch carrier (20) also includes an expandable sleeve (135) to cover the telescoping assembly (40), and an auxiliary equipment carrier (42) to carry larger equipment (174). A lock assembly (38) is provided to hold the cargo unit (26) in the traveling position, and the lock assembly includes a lock pin (120) received in nylon bushings (130,132).

  • Patent number: 6152493
Abstract: A combined medical device and form (20) having a unitary substrate (22) which is divided into a medical device portion (24) and a form portion (26). The form portion (24) of the substrate includes an informational section (30, 32, 34), and form identification material (36). The medical device portion (26) is illustrated as a DBS packet for collecting blood samples. The medical device portion (26) also has medical device identification material (68) that is preferably identical to the form identification material (36). With identical identification materials, which are preferably machine readable, the occurrences of patient misidentifications are substantially reduced if not eliminated.
