  • Patent number: 4819489
Abstract: A device for testing the adherence of a coating to a material includes a cone section and roller for bending the material around the cone section. The bent piece has a sharp bend at one end and a gradual bend at the other end. • Patent number: 4805124
Abstract: The major/minor dimensions of elliptical elements are measured by simultaneously scanning both dimensions of the elements and arranging the data in a matrix for each of the dimensions. A first preselected number of the largest elements are arranged or averaged for one dimension to obtain an average for one of the dimensions. A second predetermined number of largest elements are averaged for the other dimension to obtain an average for the other dimension. The measured dimensions are compared with upper and lower limits to verify the acceptability of the dimensions.

  • Patent number: 4804640
Abstract: A process of forming a three region dielectric film on silicon and a semiconductor device employing such a film are disclosed. Silicon is oxidized in an oxygen-containing ambient. The oxidation step forms a first region of silicon oxide. Once oxidation has begun, reactive sputtering of aluminum in an oxygen plasma is initiated. This forms a second region of said dielectric film which comprises a mixture of silicon and aluminum oxides. A third region comprising substantially aluminum oxide is formed by the continuing reactive sputtering step.A semiconductor device comprising said three region dielectric film interposed between an electrode and a semiconductor body has little or no shift in threshold voltage providing good stability and can be fabricated in substantially less time and/or at lower temperatures than prior art methods.

  • Patent number: 4798448
Abstract: An illumination system for a color display device includes means for separating the different polarizations of incoming light. One of the polarizations is rotated whereby the polarization of all the light directed toward the screen is the same. A lenticular lens array is used to focus light onto the cells of the picture elements. The three primary light colors are split so that the individual cells within the picture elements receive only the desired color of light.

  • Patent number: 4766430
Abstract: A drive circuit for a liquid crystal display includes a counter for each column of the display. The counters are set with brightness counts to establish the grey scales for the pixels. The counters turn transfer gates on when a count is present and off when the count is zero. An analog generator biases the columns through the transfer gates so that each column is biased to a level determined by the brightness count of the respective counter.

  • Patent number: 4758728
Abstract: The misregistration of kinescope panel assemblies is measured by passing UV through the shadow mask to the phosphor screen. The lighthouse optics are set for exposure of one of the three phosphor colors, such as green. The intensity of light emanating from the panel is measured for a plurality of locations on the screen, and for a plurality of incremental positions of the panel assembly with respect to the lighthouse light source. The position of maximum intensity of light emanating from the panel is recorded and used to calculate the misregistration between the phosphor screen and the shadow mask.

  • Patent number: 4758878
Abstract: A circuit for converting a monochrome video signal into individual video color signals includes a gate means for individually energizing the color guns of a color picture tube. Control logic sequentially enables the gates so that only one electron gun is energized at a given instant. The circuit works in cooperation with a commercially available pattern generator so that a plurality of rows of patterns of a particular color are scanned across the face of the screen. Because of the sequential scanning, various rows of the selected pattern are composed of the three primary colors.

  • Patent number: 4750131
Abstract: A method of detecting the forming of defective parts with a progressive die includes the step of generating a reference force/displacement curve for each forming station of the die while a number of sample parts are formed. The curves are stored in a data processor. The forming force at each forming station, and the displacement are monitored during the formation of production parts and supplied to the data processor. The production force data are compared to the reference force data for each displacement to indicate faults in various parameters previously set into the data processor.
