  • Patent number: 6221955
Abstract: A polyurethane resin consists of a reaction product of a phosphated polyol, a polyisocyanate and optionally a stabilizing monomer having a salt-forming group, for example, 2,2-dimethyolol propionic acid. The phosphated polyol may be a hydroxyl-terminated, phosphated polyester polyol which is a reaction product of a carboxylic acid, a polyol and a phosphate monomer. The phosphate monomer may be 2-phosphonobutane-1,2,4-tricarboxylic acid. The invention provides aqueous dispersions of phosphated polyurethane resins which are particularly suitable as metal primers for metals such as galvanised steel. The metal primers have improved adhesion under agressive enviroments.

  • Patent number: 6056873
Abstract: The installation disclosed comprises a body of water, a pump, a filter and pipes connecting the body of water, pump and filter. Additional pipes lead from the pipe to the return pipe and to waste. Solenoid operated valves are provided in the pipes so that flow through these pipes can be permitted or prevented depending on whether the valves are open or closed. A pressure sensor detects pressure at the inlet of the filter. A programmable controller controls operation of the valves all of which can be operated independently of the others. The body of water will normally be a swimming pool but could be a tank in which aquatic creatures are grown.

  • Patent number: 5884641
Abstract: A signalling system for a washing device having at least one rack for holding articles during the washing of same and a door for gaining access to the articles. The signalling system includes a container which collects wash and/or rinse water and a floatable indicator which moves in relation to fluid filling the container. The indicator displays signals to the user of the washer to convey to the user whether the contents of the washer have been washed or are waiting to be washed.

  • Patent number: 5475260
Abstract: The electronic read-only memory has an inner and an outer casing. The inner casing is located on a secondary circuit board, from whose edge projecting laterally from the inner casing project contact elements for producing a plug contact with the contact counterelements, which are located on a circuit board of a device, which is to be equipped with the ROM. The outer casing has lateral, outwardly open gaps, which protectively receive the contact elements. Due to the fact that the free end of the contact elements is set back with respect to the opening edge of the cap-like, outer casing, the contact elements are protected against harmful contact. This also greatly simplifies the loading of a device with the ROM, because as a result of a simple plugging movement numerous contact elements can be brought into reliable contact with the contact counterelements.

  • Patent number: 5082501
Abstract: A method of making a building material by activation of latently hydraulic finely ground granulated basic blast-furnace slag to form a direct acting hydraulic binder. The slag is mixed with water, sand and ballast material as well as with a combination of acidic and basic components. The acidic components consist of phosphates, optionally in combination with strongly acting sulfates, and the basic components consist of oxides or other compounds of earth metals, optionally in combination with zinc. Thereby, a concrete having great mechanical strength and high chemical resistance is obtained.
