  • Patent number: 8146873
Abstract: A cabinet installation system is characterized by the use of adjustable brackets and rails used to align a wall or base cabinet for mounting the cabinets on a wall. The brackets include horizontal and vertical legs which are connected via a hinge at one end and by an adjustable device at the other end so that the brackets have a triangular configuration. The adjustable device varies the angle between the legs so that when the vertical leg of a bracket is mounted on a wall, the horizontal leg can be adjusted to a level position. Front and rear rails are adjustably connected with the brackets. With the brackets arranged in spaced relation on a wall and the horizontal legs adjusted to level, the rails are adjusted relative to each bracket, respectively, so that the rails are linear, parallel and spaced according to the depth of the cabinet. When a cabinet is aligned relative to the rails, it can be secured to the wall in a straight and level position.

  • Patent number: 8147431
Abstract: A measuring member and a device to be used for determining the blood flow of the gastrointestinal tract, includes an intestinal probe, having its distal end provided with a flexible inflatable body and at least one pressure sensor mounted on this supporting body. After bringing the inflatable flexible body to predetermined pressure, the pressure sensor will abut the intestinal wall and the measured pressure development, which represents a measure for the blood flow of the gastrointestinal tract, is transformed into a graphical image with the help of the device and/or is transformed into actual values for the blood flow of the gastrointestinal tract. Further, the measuring member measures the development of the pressure within the inflatable flexible body, which represents a measure for the intestinal peristalsis.

  • Patent number: 8094320
Abstract: In an OCT apparatus, an object light beam is returned from a target and interferes with a reference light beam. Image information is obtained from a depth Z in the target that depends on the optical path difference between the object and reference beams with a resolution that depends on the coherence length of the light. A scanner transversely scans the target with the object beam over a plurality of image points defined by the resolution of the apparatus. Interface optics directs the reference and object beams onto an array of detector elements such that the optical path difference between the reference beam and the object beam varies across the array. The reference beam and the object beam interfere with each other over the array of detector elements for individual image points on the target during each transverse scan. A memory stores a subset of data points corresponding to each individual image point obtained from each detector elements of the array.

  • Patent number: 7978940
Abstract: Broadly speaking, disclosed is a carrier assembly for an optical device, the carrier assembly comprising in combination: a glass substrate with an optical die thereon; and a silicon carrier attached to the glass carrier. During manufacture, a number of optical dies can be attached on the glass substrate using self-alignment of AuSn solder bumps using gaseous flux at about 300 deg C. The glass carrier can be mounted to the silicon carrier to form an optical device carrier assembly comprising micromechanical guide holes to facilitate a optical fiber connection, using self-alignment of SnAg solder bumps using gaseous flux at about 250 deg C. Each individual optical device can be tested at a wafer scale. The resulting optical device assembly can be diced to form individual optical devices having a carrier assembly that exhibits the traits of both a silicon carrier and a glass carrier.

  • Patent number: 7950628
Abstract: An extendable railcar work platform includes one or more work platform sections each including a set of wheels, a locking mechanism associated with each wheel and a guide system. The system enables workers to safely work above an electrified third rail such as in a subway or railway tunnel. The platform may be in a first retracted position for transit or in a laterally extended or vertically extended position to enable a worker to access and work on a tunnel wall. The platform may be extended to both sides of the railcar and, if the platform includes more than one section, the individual sections may be simultaneously extended to opposite sides of the railcar. Each work platform section includes a floor or base and safety rails around all four sides of the section.

  • Patent number: 7936078
Abstract: A variable speed wind turbine including a variable speed rotor, a large constant speed generator, and a small variable speed generator is characterized by a three-shaft variable ratio gearbox connecting the shaft of the rotor with the two generator shafts. The variable ratio gearbox is an epicyclic gearbox which enables the combination of the high performance of a variable speed rotor with the low cost of a large constant speed generator. The torque of the small variable speed generator controls the rotor speed. Variable frequency power conditioning cost is less than that of a prior art variable speed wind turbine, reduced by the ratio of the rated capacity of the small generator to total rated capacity. Also, the small generator enables efficient low wind velocity energy capture. The low rotational inertia of the small variable speed generator further reduces drive train dynamic stress.
