  • Patent number: 4203761
Abstract: A furnace for melting, refining or processing metals and for the reduction of ores, having a refractory or graphitic bottom and side-walls and having a roof, and having a feed-entrance for introducing the unmelted metal feed-material into the furance from above the level of the molten metal, and said furnace having a molten-metal exit, and internal-combustion burners extending downwardly through the roof of the furnace with their discharge ends substantially below the melt-level and with their other ends outside the furnace. Each of the burners has a refractory or metallic combustion chamber and a metallic liquid coolant-jacket surrounding said combustion chamber, with the coolant-inlet and the coolant-outlet of the jacket being near the other end of the burner, outside the furnace.

  • Patent number: 4183503
Abstract: A one-piece demolition-tool including an elongated stem terminating in two differently shaped prying-members at opposite ends thereof, and a dual-function pivot-and-handle bar near each end of said stem, disposed crosswise thereof, each pivot-and-handle bar being in operative juxtaposition to both prying-members and being arranged to serve as an off-center pivot in relation to the prying-member nearest to it when that prying-member is prying and to serve as a twist-resisting force-applying handle in relation to the prying-member farthest from it when that prying-member is prying, and each pivot-and-handle bar having two opposite handle-portions extending laterally and oppositely from the stem, and each handle-portion being of sufficient length to enable the user of the demolition-tool to engage the two handle-portions with a major portion of the width of his hands when closed around the handle-portions so as to enable the user effectively to apply his needed manual force for the operation of the tool.

  • Patent number: 4063547
Abstract: A solar heater for heating water passing therethrough. The heater includes a corrugated radiant-heat absorbing panel slanted parallel to the corrugations, a liquid-delivery manifold-pipe along the upper end of the corrugated panel and having discharge apertures in operative registration with the upper ends of the upwardly-facing troughs of such corrugations, and a slotted envelope-protector and liquid-discharge pipe extending across and mounted to the lower edge-zone of the corrugated panel, with the lower edge-zone thereof extending into and tightly fitted in the slot of the pipe;-- the upper liquid-supply manifold-pipe and the lower liquid-discharge pipe and the corrugated panel therebetween being fully enveloped by and sealed within a flexible envelope formed of pliable weather-resistant plastic sheeting, at least the top panel of which envelope is highly transparent.

  • Patent number: 4060246
Abstract: A horse-race-simulating parlor, casino or the like game of pure chance, comprising a combination of a pair of dice which can be rolled to eleven numbers, from 2 to 12, and a play-board having thereon eleven play-numbers, from 2 through 12, representing eleven horses, and a finish-number which is the lowest common multiple of the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6 representing ways in which said eleven horse-numbers can be rolled by the dice or is a multiple of such lowest-common-multiple, and having a chance-equalizing number for each play-number or horse-number, which chance-equalizing number is said lowest-common-multiple divided by the number of ways the play-number can be rolled by the dice.

  • Patent number: 4041579
Abstract: A clasp or connector for detachably fastening to each other the two ends of jewelry chains, necklaces, bracelets or the like. The clasp includes an elongated planar base-plate having a loop-receiving or link-receiving hole or loop at one end thereof, to which the terminal link of the chain, necklace or bracelet may be secured, and having a short link-receiving post at the other end thereof over which the other terminal link of the chain, necklace or bracelet may be placed when the clasp is in its open condition.

  • Patent number: 4027590
Abstract: A label, ticket and tag printing and dispensing machine with readily detachable and attachable interchangeable tape supply and feeding magazines, for the optional and selective use of any one of several alternative pre-adjusted tape-feeding magazines, each loaded with a roll of a different size or kind of labels, tickets or tags, thereby to provide maximum and ready variability and range of tape-supply; with each of the several alternative magazines being individually pre-adjusted for the length and width and other characteristics of the label, ticket or tag and in relation to location of the print-impression of the printer. Each magazine holds a roll of labels, tickets or tags and includes a self-contained tape-feeder for intermittently feeding the tape from the roll in the magazine in label, ticket or tag lengths in timed relation to the printing sequence of the printer portion. The printer portion includes a tape-feeder cam or several alternative tape-feeder cams.

  • Patent number: 3974611
Abstract: A modular educational erector-toy and erector playground equipment and building system for constructing single-level and multi-level toy and playground structures and buildings of widely variable optional combinations of hollow primary tetrahedron modules and secondary tetrahedron and hexahedron modules and tertiary pentahedron and septahedron modules; the modules being full-size, half-size and quarter-size. The modules are bounded by planar walls, with the outer surfaces on one or more walls of each module matching the whole or an integral fraction of the outer surfaces of one or more walls of every other module. Some or all of the walls of the modules have substantial openings or windows therein so as to form planar boundary flanges or webs defining such tetrahedrons, pentahedrons, hexahedrons and septahedrons.

  • Patent number: 3934990
Abstract: An air cooler and cleaner for cooling compressed-air coming from an air-compressor and for removing the moisture content thereof and for removing lubricant oil and solid particles and other contaminants which may be entrained therein. The air cooler and cleaner includes a tubular aluminum housing and an upper housing-closure and a lower housing-closure. Sheet-aluminum cooling fins having housing-receiving openings and cylindrical spacer and heat-conductor collars around said openings heat-shrunk onto the housing in firm thermally-conductive contact therewith and spacing the fins in relation to each other. A swirl-chamber in the lower portion of the housing and a cooling-chamber in the upper portion of the housing. The swirl-chamber has a tangential air-inlet for rapidly spinning the air therein. An inverted cylindrical cup-like air-director within the cooling-chamber for directing the air against and along the wall of the cooling-chamber in a thin layer.
