  • Patent number: 5173796
Abstract: A part scanning and part calibration apparatus and mechanism for the inspection of printed circuit boards and integrated circuits include a camera and two rotating mirrors to scan an image of a pattern mask retical upon which a precise pattern has been deposited. Small parts are placed upon the retical to be inspected. The third overhead mirror is provided to view the part under inspection from another perspective. The scene of the part is triangulated and the dimensions of the system can thus be calibrated. A precise retical mask is provided with dot patterns which provide an additional set of information needed for calibration. By scanning more then one dot pattern the missing state values can be resolved using an iterative trigonomic solution.

  • Patent number: 5170336
Abstract: An improved DC to AC electrical inverter has a new and improved method and apparatus with forced air ventilation cooling that significantly increases sustainable AC power output. The methods include the steps of forcing an air flow out of the inverter enclosure and over an external heat sink, and forcing an air flow through a special power transformer between the windings and the core. The apparatus has at least one fan, an air outlet and structure for guiding and directing a forced air flow to and over an external heat sink for the power switches. A structure to continuously force cooling air through the power transformer is also provided.

  • Patent number: 5164897
Abstract: An automated method for selecting personnel which includes the step of selecting a first set of employees having qualifications matching a first job criteria from a first data file where the first data file includes a first plurality of records and each record includes a first job selection criteria, such as job titles, and a corresponding employee code. A second step comprises selecting a second plurality of employees having qualifications matching a second job criteria from a second data file which includes a second plurality of records wherein each record includes a second job selection criteria, such as industrial experience, and a corresponding employee code. In the preferred embodiment, a third selection is made from yet a third data file including records having a third job selection criteria, such as special skills, with a corresponding employee code. This results in three groups of selected records.

  • Patent number: 5164655
Abstract: A dual state power system utilizing power drivers to switch an alternator from 12 volt to 24 volt charging. A 12-24 volt alternator regulator charges a 12 volt battery or a 24 volt battery depending on the position of a mode switch. The invention allows the use of one alternator/engine combination to charge either a 12 volt or 24 volt system. The invention uses a 12 volt mode priority to override a 24 volt charging mode. The 24 volt charging mode is interrupted to provide voltage to a 12 volt battery for a predetermined time period. A voltage controller drives a smart electrical current driver which controls the output of an alternator. A reset circuit determines from system parameters reported from system components whether the charging system to a reset error circuit whether or not the alternator is operating correctly. A sense lamp driver indicates to the user that the system is in a non functioning state.

  • Patent number: 5148076
Abstract: A path length control driver apparatus includes a base plate having a first central member having first and second opposite ends, a first outer rim membr and a first flexible annular diaphragm area having first and second opposite sides. The first flexible annular diaphragm area is between and integral with the first central member and the first outer rim member. A central axis passes centrally through the first and second opposite ends of the first central member. A first piezoelectric ceramic material has first and second opposing sides and the first side of the first piezoelectric ceramic material is rigidly affixed to the first flexible annular diaphragm area's first side. A second piezoelectric ceramic material has first and second opposing sides and the first side of the second piezolectric ceramic material is rigidly affixed to the first flexible annular diaphragm area's second side.

  • Patent number: 5147559
Abstract: A method for removing floating immiscible liquids from a well containing both the floating immiscible liquids and water, where the floating immiscible liquids and water meet at a water interface, by controlling a cone of depression within the well. A removal system for removing said floating immiscible liquids is used including a microprocessor, a discharge water line and an upper water interface sensor where at least a portion of the discharge water line is located within the well. The upper water interface sensor is located within the well at a sensor location.

  • Patent number: 5061920
Abstract: A saturating column driver for an LCD substrate. Digital data is entered into a register in a serial fashion to produce a series of single-column addresses. The single-column addresses are latched and apparatus is provided for translating video binary words into grey scale codes. Also provided are switches responsive to the translated video binary words which switch a voltage input corresponding to the video binary word through to the LCD substrate to generate the desired grey scale.
