  • Patent number: 8325519
Abstract: A programmable non-volatile device is operated with a floating gate that functions as a FET gate that overlaps a portion of a source/drain region and allows for variable coupling through geometry and/or biasing conditions. This allows a programming voltage for the device to be imparted to the floating gate through variable capacitive coupling, thus changing the state of the device. Multi-state embodiments are also possible. The invention can be used in environments such as data encryption, reference trimming, manufacturing ID, security ID, and many other applications.

  • Patent number: 8324291
Abstract: A method of producing an improved polyethylene, especially an ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene utilizes a sequential irradiation and annealing process to form a highly cross-linked polyethylene material. The use of sequential irradiation followed by sequential annealing after each irradiation allows each dose of irradiation in the series of doses to be relatively low while achieving a total dose which is sufficiently high to cross-link the material. The process may either be applied to a preformed material such as a rod or bar or sheet made from polyethylene resin or may be applied to a finished polyethylene part.

  • Patent number: 8319882
Abstract: A phase-difference detecting image pickup element performs focus detection even if the position of an exit pupil with respect to the image pickup element changes. A pixel pair receives an object light beam transmitted through a pair of portion areas whose areas become the same in an exit pupil at a particular distance from the image pickup element. The pixel pair includes light-intercepting portions that define the pair of portion areas. A different pixel pair whose light-intercepting portions are different so that the areas of the pair of portion areas in the exit pupil the particular distance from the image pickup element are the same. By this, even if the position of the exit pupil is changed by, for example, a lens replacement, focus detection can be performed by a phase-difference detection method by selecting a pixel pair in accordance with the position of the exit pupil.

  • Patent number: 8320685
Abstract: Data can be transferred from a picture processing section to an encoding section without necessity of using an external memory. In addition, with internal data transfer having a wider band than an external memory, data can be processed at high speed. An entire picture 41 as an original picture is divided into six blocks of (64×4) pixels each. An enlargement process is performed for each block. Data of blocks are read in the order of blocks 1, 2, 3, and so forth. A size changing section processes a first block and generates picture data of a block 42 of (128×8) pixels. From this picture data 42, macroblocks 43 of (16×8) pixels each are read and encoded. As a result, JPEG data 44 are obtained. A code rearrangement section rearranges the order of the JPEG data 46 in the unit of a block. As a result, JPEG data 48 are generated. When JPEG data 48 are decoded in this order, a decoded picture 49 whose block order matches an area 41 of the original picture is obtained.

More specifically, aspects relate to recording data such as accelerometer readings, wireless network or other beacon signal information, and timestamps while a client device moves within an indoor space. If the user reaches a destination within the indoor space, the client device may prompt the user for information about the destination. The information received and recorded by the client device may be sent to a server computer for further processing. The server may use the information to identify walkable paths within the indoor space. This information in turn may be used in various ways, such as to provide navigation assistance to users though the indoor space.
