Abstract: Tube-pulling apparatus include expandable gripping jaws and an expansion rod adapted to expand the gripping jaws so that they grip an inner wall of a tube to be pulled from a tube sheet. A first piston, which is connected to the expansion rod, moves the expansion rod relative to the gripping jaws to effect their expansion. After the gripping jaws are fully expanded, the first piston cooperates with a second piston, which is connected to the gripping jaws, to conjointly retract the expansion rod and the gripping jaws, thereby extracting the tube. If the gripping jaws are misadjusted resulting in their complete expansion before the first piston assumes its cooperative relationship with the second piston, retraction of the second piston is prevented, thereby automatically aborting the tube-pulling operation to prevent damage to the tube sheet.

Abstract: Apparatus for heating a cardboard blank (2) coated with a synthetic material include an inhibitor (21, 22) which inhibits heat transferred from the synthetic coating to the cardboard blank from raising the temperature of predetermined portions of the cardboard blank beyond a selected value.
Abstract: Through a confined chamber replete with saturated or overheated steam, a textile sheet material such as a woven cloth is continually processed, under concurrent emanation of microwaves, along a continuous course made up of a plurality of substantially concentrically arranged, substantially circular sections of different diameters, for uniform treatment over entire length and thickness. The treatment can be used as a part of a continuous textile process.
Abstract: A vacuum glass tube type heat collector tube with a substantially straight, double cylindrical construction is closed at its initially open end with an end cap having two or more separate ports for heat transmitting medium. A solar system unit is made up of a center conduit with two separate medium passages and a plurality of such heat collector tubes combined in a rib like arrangement with a valve mechanism arranged at every junction of the center conduit with the tubes which instantly closes upon accidental breakage of the associated tube. Easy drainage of the medium releaves the tubes from breakage due to medium freezing and instant closing of the valve upon tube breakage enables free replacement of the broken tube without any interception to the normal operation of the remaining part of the unit.
Abstract: A method for producing images on radiation sensitive recording mediums. The method comprises the steps of providing radiation means 20 operable to produce radiation 30 at a predetermined location from the radiation means 20, and mounting a radiation sensitive recording medium 12 and the radiation means 20 to provide relative movement between the recording medium 12 and the radiation means 20 so that respective portions of the recording medium 12 are presented at the predetermined location from the radiation means 20.
Abstract: Apparatus for controlling the tension and predetermined rate of movement of a continuous strip of elongated material being fed to and/or withdrawn from a processing station for processing at a predetermined processing rate is disclosed. The apparatus includes a pair of pivotable control arms, in which the first control arm is pivotable about a fixed pivot point and the second control arm is pivotable about the end of the first control arm, a spring between the two control arms whereby upon pivoting of the second control arm the spring transmits only a portion of the movement of that arm to the first control arm, and a speed controller for controlling the predetermined rate of movement of the strip in response to movement of the first control arm.
Abstract: A multi-purpose assembly is constructed to be arranged from a compact folded position into a portable chair and container. The assembly includes a pair of sidewall members each having side arms pivotally connected at one end to opposite sides of a base. Telescoping assemblies are connected to the other ends of the side arms between common sides to secure the sidewall members in an upright position and to permit their rotation into a folded position overlying the base. The multi-purpose assembly is arranged into a portable chair and container from the compact folded position by rotating one or both of the sidewall members into the upright position. Movement of the multi-purpose assembly over loose terrain, such as sand and the like, is assisted by a ribbed roller secured adjacent to one side of the base.
Abstract: A stove for burning solid fuel such as wood, coal or briquets in a more efficient manner utilizes preheated outside air for primary and secondary combustion and has tempered glass windows for observation. The combustion air flow is directed so as to minimize obscuring of the glass by deposits of unburned volatiles. A fire chamber is provided with self-feeding grate, and the stove also has a secondary grate, a high proportion of radiating and convective surfaces, a heat exchanger, a cooking surface, an automatic linkage between a fuel loading door and an opening-reducing damper to limit back drafts and thermostatic control to ensure complete combustion and efficient heat exchange. The self-feeding grate has a thermostatic grate shaker to promote unattended complete combustion, and can be replaced to match the fuel used.
Abstract: A cathode ray tube display system for displaying data and/or pictorial images in an undistorted manner over the entire display screen. Programmable video polarity circuits add versatility to the system, enabling the cathode ray tube to be driven by any one of a variety of different drive circuits and effectively eliminating any skewing or delay experienced by the control signals as a result of the particular drive circuitry employed.Versatile deflection of the cathode ray tube electron beam at low power levels is achieved through the use of deflection circuitry employing a feedback circuit for achieving linearity and a totem pole circuit employing a coupling diode for achieving rapid, automatic flyback during the retrace portion of the deflection cycle.Automatic sizing of the display generated by the cathode ray tube (CRT) is obtained regardless of changes in the operating frequency of the horizontal and vertical sync signals employed to control the cathode ray tube.
Abstract: A process for the treating of and/or removal of substances from a liquid, especially whole blood, via a semipermeable microporous membrane (13, 14, 15) through adsorption and/or biological reaction by means of a biologically active material. Said whole blood is exposed to pressure variations at the membrane surface in a way such that a penetrating fraction of said whole blood is flowing in an alternating flow path through the membrane walls for contacting said biologically active material.Said biologically active material is asymmetrically immobilized in and on the surface of the side of said membrane that faces away from said whole blood. Alternatively, said biologically active material may be bound to an unsoluble matrix behind said membrane.Said membrane is for example provided within a casing (7, 8, 9) comprising inlet (10) and outlet (11) for said whole blood.

Abstract: A connector assembly is adapted to connect an outlet of a whirlpool system to air and water supply channels. Because the connector assembly is removably mounted to the air and water supply channels between the ends thereof, the air and water supply channels can be made from a continuous piece of tubing.
Abstract: A dental implant system, including a novel dental implant is disclosed, along with a method of installing the same. The implant includes a sleeve member with a cylindrical bottom portion including a plurality of aperturess and a neck portion. An electrically non-conductive collar member is mounted within the neck portion and an electrode is mounted within the collar portion electrically isolated from the sleeve member. The top portion of the electrode is adapted to be releasably electrically connected with a battery pack and alternatively with a dental appliance. The battery pack includes a battery whose cathode connects with a member which engages the top portion of the electrode and an anode which makes contact with the inside of the mouth. An appliance for preparing the jaw bone for the insertion of the implant is also disclosed, including a drill with three cutting surfaces and a jig adapted to support the drill within the mouth.
Abstract: Lignocellulose material is pretreated with steam, heat, lignin softening chemicals or combinations thereof. The pretreated material is then refined in a disc refiner. Water is added to the material in the refining zone of the disc refiner to form a suspension at concentration of 8-15% at the point of discharge from the gap between the discs of the refiner. Steam development and steam backflow from the gap is reduced.
Abstract: Radial gaskets for use in connection with shafts which are axially movable within a cylinder containing a pressurized fluid, particularly in connection with McPherson type dampers. The gaskets include a rigid support ring and a shaped body of flexible sealing material having a lip on the surface of the shaft which when submitted to fluid pressure forms a cutting angle substantially equal to 90.degree. when the gasket is in its working condition. In this manner, the scraping effect of the gasket is increased and the possibility of fluid blow-out and the resultant stresses due to fluid pressures are avoided without negatively affecting the positioning of the lip with respect to the relevant articulation line of the gasket.
