  • Patent number: 7961915
Abstract: A system and method for the identification of users and objects using biometric techniques is disclosed. This invention describes a biometric based identification and authorization systems which do not require the incorporation of an on-line database of stored complete biometrics for the security infrastructure. In order to remove the connectivity requirements, an off-line biometric system is achieved by incorporating an identity verification template (IVT) on a storage device/token (e g, magnetic strip or smart-card) during the user's registration which provides for a reliable storage medium; however, there are no security requirements required of the token even to protect the privacy of the stored biometric. The IVT does not contain complete information of the user's biometric but allows for the verification of the user when that user later provides a biometric reading.

  • Patent number: 7943213
Abstract: A layered, artificial surface including plural components filled with microbeads of pre-selected sizes, shapes and depths. The microbeads of the pre-selected sizes and shapes and depths provide plural different types of resistance and firmness for the artificial surface. Pre-determined chemical compounds are applied to the microbeads to change a surface charge on the microbeads, or produced with a desired surface charge to provide different interactions and thus different types of resistance and firmness for the artificial surface. The artificial surface does not require the application of a vacuum to maintain a shape or resistance.

  • Patent number: 7917449
Abstract: A method for system for career matching assessment matching. One or more electronic questionnaires that are designed to reflect models of working environments, problem solving, communication and inter-personal skills are presented via a communications network. Each candidate and/or employer fills in a separate questionnaire. The particular pattern of their answers provides a profile for both the job seeker and the employer. A matching process then assesses the amount of overlap between the profiles of different candidates and employers. Greater candidate-employer overlap yields superior job performance, higher levels of job satisfaction and longer retention.

  • Patent number: 7912781
Abstract: A method and system for providing real-time electronic information for risk assessment and management for multi-market electronic trading. The method and system dramatically improve an infrastructure used by electronic traders over a communications network by separating one or more data streams from one or more trading exchange with plural different types of electronic trading information into plural separate data streams that can be selectively used on a target device. The plural separate data streams and can be requested, displayed and used faster and more efficiently than an entire data stream including all the multiple types of electronic trading information for real-time risk assessment and management.

  • Patent number: 7892500
Abstract: A system and method for recycling plastics. The system and method recover materials such as hydrocarbon gases, liquid hydrocarbon distillates, various polymers and/or monomers used to produce the original plastics. The system and method allow about one unit of input of energy input to the plastic recycler to be used to create one or more gaseous components and one or more liquid distillate components from a plastic that is being recycled. The one or more gaseous components and one or more liquid distillate components produce about one corresponding unit of useable output energy recovered from the recycling of the plastic.

  • Patent number: 7865424
Abstract: A method and system for reserving future purchases of goods or services. Plural electronic options include electronic option terms established by one or more suppliers who can supply the goods or services. The option terms vary greatly among the individual suppliers and no two suppliers may use the same option terms. Use of variable option terms provides significant flexibility for use of the electronic options by suppliers. The method and system may also allow a purchaser to risk a small amount of money to use an electronic option to reserve a price to purchase or not purchase desired goods or services that may or may not ever exist at a desired future time.

  • Patent number: 7700074
Abstract: Chronic alcoholism is a diverse and heterogeneous disorder that can be dichotomized into cognitively intact and cognitively impaired subgroups. At a molecular level, ethanol has been shown to have both acute and chronic effects on: Membrane biophysical properties, Membrane composition and metabolism, Protein phosphorylation, Lipid metabolic signaling, Lipoprotein transport of cholesterol. Actual molecular underpinnings are determined for cognitive impairment seen in some chronic alcoholism subjects including molecular/metabolic alterations of phospholipid and ganglioside metabolisms.

  • Patent number: 7680860
Abstract: A method and system for creating a vertical search engine. The method and system may help allow “vortals” to be created for the Internet and other computer networks that efficiently index and search lists of Uniform Resource Locators (“URLs”) created from an appropriate list of keywords for a selected topic. Vortals include information pertinent to a targeted topic of a very small horizontal breath, but a larger depth. The created vortals may provide greater user satisfaction and less user frustration when searching for information about a selected topic.
