  • Patent number: 8349073
Abstract: A cementitious composition the properties of which are useful for: a) reducing shrinkage cracking in stucco systems due to excess water present in initial mixing required to achieve adequate slump necessary for application, but not necessary for material hydration b) reducing full thickness cracking as a result of minor structural movement by increasing the flexural strength, c) reducing the time required to place the layers of a three-coat exterior stucco system. The composition of this material is a blend of ASTM C 150 Portland cement, an ASTM C 1328 Plastic (Stucco) cement and a minor amount of a sulfonated naphthalene formaldehyde condensate (SNF), also described as Polynaphthalene sulfonates (PNS) cement superplasticizer, also known as a HRWR (High Range Water Reducer).

  • Patent number: 8352329
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method and system for providing an international electronic payment service using mobile phone authentication. A payment method using an IPN server is selected, and results of verification of the product are relayed to a PG company server in a first country “A.” A user in country A enters primary authentication information, and a mobile communication company server performs primary authentication. The mobile phone of the user is then notified of an OTP, and the PG company server in country A receives the OTP and performs secondary authentication. The IPN server vicariously processes a payment between the PG company server and the mobile communication company server, and notifies a PG company server in a second country “B” of results of payment. The mobile communication company server sends paid money to the PG company server in country A, and the PG company server gives money corresponding to product price to the seller.

  • Patent number: 8336084
Abstract: A system for broadcasting multiple public identities corresponding to the same apparatus. For example, each public identity may correspond to different operational environments, while none of the public identities disclose a private identity that uniquely and permanently identifies the apparatus. This allows apparatuses to keep their unique identity a secret while still being able to communicate with other apparatuses in various environments.

  • Patent number: 8331006
Abstract: Illuminating light (B2, B3) for a liquid crystal on silicon (LCOS) micro-display (210) is provided by an illuminating unit (100). The illuminating unit (100) has a waveguiding substrate (7) and a plurality of light out-coupling features (F30). The substrate (7) has two substantially parallel surfaces (41,42). Light coupled into said substrate (7) is reflected several times on the surfaces (41,42) of the substrate (7) by total internal reflection (TIR) before being coupled out of the substrate (7). Thus a portion (102) of said substrate (7) may act as an optical integrator for smoothing out variations in spatial intensity distribution of light propagating within said substrate (7). The out-coupling efficiencies of the out-coupling features (F30) may be selected to minimize vignetting and/or to minimize stray light effects.

  • Patent number: 8323613
Abstract: The manufacture of titanium dioxide by oxidation of titanium tetrachloride in a plug flow reactor, wherein the titanium tetrachloride is introduced into the reactor in at least two stages and is used exclusively in liquid form. The total quantity of liquid TiCl4 used is split up in several stages. A small quantity is added in the first stage in order to start combustion despite using the liquid phase. In the first phase, the activation energy required is provided solely via the preheated oxygen. In all other stages, the activation energy is provided by the preheated oxygen and the reaction enthalpy of TiCl4 oxidation released in the upstream stages.

  • Patent number: 8323720
Abstract: The disclosure provides a process for producing a ready-to-eat (RTE) fruit food product, comprising: obtaining a quantity of granulated fruit meal; and forming the fruit meal into a predetermined shaped product, comprising: applying a heat sufficient to cause the fruit meal to become tacky; and applying a compressive force to the tacky fruit meal to form the predetermined shape. In one embodiment, the process can use a mold to form the predetermined shape. Importantly, the fruit food product can be formed into a stable predetermined shaped product independent of baking the product. The heat sufficient to cause the fruit meal to be come tacky generally causes the fruit meal to be between 80° F. (27° C.) to 200° F. (93° C.). For example, the compressive force can between 1 pound force (0.4 kilograms) to 16 pounds force (7.3 kilograms) for an exemplary 2 inch (5 cm) cookie/biscuit.

  • Patent number: 8325703
Abstract: A system for managing the simultaneous operation of a plurality of radio modems in a single wireless communication device (WCD). The multiradio control may be integrated into the WCD as a subsystem responsible for scheduling wireless communications by temporarily enabling or disabling the plurality of radio modems within the device. The multiradio control system may comprise a multiradio controller (MRC) and a plurality dedicated radio interfaces. Further, clock synchronization protection between the multiradio system controller, other modems and wireless communication devices with whom the wireless device is communicating may further be implemented as a protective measure to ensure a valid clock synchronization between all devices internal and external to the primary wireless device.

  • Patent number: 8320032
Abstract: A diffractive beam expander (50) comprises a substantially planar waveguiding substrate, an input grating (10) to provide an in-coupled beam (B1) propagating within said substrate, and an output grating (30) to provide an out-coupled beam. The expander (50) comprises also four or more further grating portions to expand the height of the in-coupled beam (B1). A part of the in-coupled light is diffracted by a first deflecting grating portion (21a) to provide a first deflected beam. A part of the in-coupled light is diffracted by a second deflecting grating portion (22a) to provide a second deflected beam. The first deflected beam propagates downwards and the second deflected beam propagates upwards with respect to the in-coupled beam (B1). The first deflected beam impinges on a first direction-restoring grating portion (21b) and the second deflected beam impinges on a second direction-restoring grating portion (22b).

  • Patent number: 8314157
Abstract: Improved method, apparatus and system for treating bilge water and other marine emulsion wastes comprising water and hydrocarbon, and possibly solids in some cases. Microwave Separation Technology (MST) is used to treat a broad class of emulsion wastes associated with, generated by, or carried at sea on, ships or other marine entities (such as drilling platforms, oil spill clean-up systems, etc.). The hydrocarbon component from a marine emulsion waste comprising water and hydrocarbon, and possibly solids in some cases, is concentrated (e.g., the emulsion's water content is reduced) so that the volume of waste material that requires off-loading or out-hauling (or both) is reduced over conventional methods of separating emulsion wastes for disposal. In view of the reductions achieved in process volumes, significant cost savings may be realized. Better compliance with environmental laws and standards may also be realized.

  • Patent number: 8312907
Abstract: A fiber bundle arranging device is provided that laminates fiber bundle layers formed of a fiber bundle. The fiber bundle is engaged with arranged pins to have straight parts. The device includes a press roller and a first moving device. The press roller includes a peripheral portion. The peripheral portion of the press roller depresses the straight parts of the fiber bundle engaged with the pins toward the roots of the pins in the vicinity of the pin. The first moving device moves the press roller in the arrangement direction of the pins such that the peripheral portion sequentially intersects the straight parts of the fiber bundle.
