  • Patent number: 8124329
Abstract: A method for hypothermic preservation of biological tissue for later recovery to a viable state includes flushing the biological tissue with a gas mixture of sulfur hexafluoride or xenon and oxygen. The sulfur hexafluoride or xenon is in a concentration in the mixture between about 75 mole percent to 95 mole percent. The method includes pressurizing the biological tissue, preferably isothermically, with the mixture to a pressure that will form clathrates inside the biological tissue at a desired storage temperature in a range of about +1° C. to about +5° C. The method includes a step of cooling the biological tissue, preferably isobarically, to the desired storage temperature. Optional steps for further cooling to no colder than about ?20° C. and for depressurization are provided as well as steps for recovering the hypothermically preserved biological tissue to a viable state, preferably using a recovery gas mixture.

  • Patent number: 8119098
Abstract: A process for conversion of coal in a reaction vessel comprises steps of: admixing coal and powdered alumina clay to form reactants; injecting the reactants with a high-pressure steam jet into the reaction vessel; and producing aluminum oxalate ash and hydrogen. Preferably, the reaction vessel is pressurized to maximize the production of aluminum oxalate and hydrogen. Optionally, the process includes adding calcium carbonate if not present in the clay. The reactants in the reaction vessel are typically maintained a temperature of about 2,000 degrees Kelvin and a pressure of about 1 mega Pascals. To save energy, the process may include preheating water with the aluminum oxalate ash to aid in creating pressurized steam. The hydrogen may be mixed with air and burned in a combustion chamber, such as is found within a gas turbine-generator unit to produce electricity. Optionally the reactants may include an aqueous sodium hydroxide.

  • Patent number: 7973262
Abstract: A powerplant and method for production and use of synthesis gas from a hydrocarbon fuel is disclosed in a combination of a triple helical flow vortex reactor (100) and a power producer (510). The triple helical flow vortex reactor (100) steam-reforms a hydrocarbon fuel in a rich combustion environment and produces a gas stream with synthesis gas. The triple helical flow vortex reactor (100) has a plasma torch to introduce a central vortex and two swirlers to introduce counterposing vortexes, or circumferential flows, at the periphery of a reaction chamber in the triple helical flow vortex reactor. The synthesis gas fuels the power producer (510).

  • Patent number: 7971198
Abstract: A resources sharing container having logic-linking mechanism for logically linking program code to pages, pages to applications and applications to solutions. The resources sharing container will have the ability to create finished solutions by using its logic functionalities (logic-linking, resources code, enhancements, etc.), application requirements (application pages and their programming code logic) and preconfigured enhancements (settings, translations, interfacing, securities, etc.), and have the final solution tailored to each user's prerequisites. Moreover, it will permit the creation of a global resource sharing of logically linked software code blocks, application pages and application page's settings that can be shared in house, over a network or globally over the Internet, thus, reducing replication and distribution costs, since all the developments, securities and enhancements are at the resources level at a single location.

Abstract: Improvements to a triple helical flow vortex reactor add an inner wall (103) having at least one transition point (121) between the fuel inlet end (101) and the gas outlet end (102) and a circumferential flow apparatus (120) operating at each transition point (121). A restrictor at each transition point (121) is optionally added to reduce aerodynamic resistance to the various fluid flows. A vortex swirler is optionally added through the fuel inlet end, which preferably surrounds an inlet nozzle combined with a plasma torch. The fuel inlet end is optionally equipped with cooling channels in which a coolant can flow isolated from the reaction chamber. An optional coaxial cylindrical wall extends through the reaction chamber and creates a toroidal volume for reactions.

  • Patent number: 7931434
Abstract: A telescopic chimney and methods are disclosed for generation of mechanical energy using air routed through a turbine. Truncated cones stored nested together telescope to interlock when extended end to end to form a conical shape that diverges upwardly. An air output deflector at the exit of the chimney drives the exiting airflow downwards and is optionally divided into six equal radial spans so that airflow can be varied through each by a computer-controlled shutter to compensate for wind forces. An axial cable raises and lowers truncated cones. A method of deploying the chimney includes steps of closing the shutters; filling the truncated cones with heated air; controlling the rise of the truncated with the cable; and, opening the shutters. A method of collapsing the chimney includes the steps of pulling the cable to exert downward force on a truncated cone.
