  • Patent number: 5086973
Abstract: An improved nozzle modulator, an improved nozzle modulator assembly, and an improved coating method comprises a nozzle having a housing. A fluid reservoir communicates with the housing. The nozzle has a nozzle outlet about which a meniscus is formed. A high voltage source is connected to the nozzle. The fluid is dispensed as one or more charged fluid paths from the nozzle upon the actuation of the high voltage source. A plurality of repulsive and attractive electric fields are positioned to surround the fluid path. An electrical biasing means is connected to the electrical fields for biasing the fields and modulating the fluid path to form a homogeneous fog comprising uniformly disbursed droplets moving in a wide variety of directions.

  • Patent number: 5074410
Abstract: A portable hat box for a brimmed hat having an upper member and a lower member. The upper member being pivotal relative to the lower member about a pivot axis between a closed position and an open position. The members in the closed position completely enclose a hat chamber. Each of the members having a platen surface. The lower member platen surface is substantially complementary in shape to the upper member platen surface. The platen surfaces are adjacent having a substantially constant vertical clearance therebetween in the closed position. The platen surfaces are nonadjacent and obliquely related in the open position.

  • Patent number: 5040489
Abstract: An aquarium-planter comprises a bottom partition and at least one primary partition joined in a water retentive relationship. At least one divider is joined in water retentive relationship to the bottom partition and to the primary tank wall. The bottom partition, the primary tank wall and the divider define an aquarium tank which has a tank opening. A secondary partition is joined to the primary partition in spaced relation to the divider. The secondary partition and the divider define a planter. The partition has a drainage opening communicating the planter chamber. The aquarium-planter has a cover, which has about the same horizontal dimensions as the tank chamber opening. The cover is disposed in spaced vertical relation to the tank chamber opening.

  • Patent number: 4281824
Abstract: An apparatus for metallurgically heat treating workpieces, the apparatus comprises a rotatable retort having an elongated treating chamber. A workpiece conveyor is within the treating chamber whereby the workpieces can be moved from the entrance end to the exit end of the treating chamber. A plurality of partitions within the treating chamber cooperate with the conveyor and treating chamber to divide the treating chamber into a plurality of distinct atmospherically isolated chambers and to allow for the movement of the workpieces into and out of the chambers. A gas distributor is within the treating chamber. The gas distributor is operatively connected to a reactive gas source and has gas outlets in selected ones of the chambers.

  • Patent number: 4272199
Abstract: A mixing container in which two or more completely incompatible materials may be packaged, stored, and prior to use mixed together. The mixing container comprises an exterior container and one or more interior containers. The largest volume material of those being stored is placed within the exterior container. The other incompatible materials are placed within the interior containers, respectively. A shaft extends into the exterior container. Affixed to the inner end of the shaft is a rotor. The shaft and the rotor can both rotate and move axially of the shaft. Each of the interior containers are breakable and may be broken by contact with the rotor. The rotor is also capable of completely mixing the contents of each of the containers whereby various incompatible materials may be completely and homogeneously mixed prior to use. The exterior container of the invention may be modified with a nozzle and means for dispensing the mixture through the nozzle.
