  • Patent number: 7981073
Abstract: A pressure and a vision regulation method and device for irrigation of a body cavity (1), in which an inflow liquid pump (2) pressurizes the irrigation liquid in a feed line (13) and an outflow device (3) or an external suction source (20) drains the irrigation liquid from the body cavity (1) through a tubing (16) into a waste container (17). A control unit (4) controls either the inflow liquid pump (2) only or both the inflow liquid pump (2) and the outflow device (3) depending on an inflow irrigation liquid pressure from a pressure sensor (5). The method and the device are combined with a method for detecting blood cells, red blood cells, haemoglobin and/or debris in liquid coming from a surgical site to provide an automatic control and rinsing system with clear vision in the viewing area of the operational site.

  • Patent number: 7938420
Abstract: A drive mechanism for a bicycle is provided including a pedal leverage arm, a drive sprocket spindle, a drive sprocket, a drive gear, and a vertical gear on each side of the bicycle. The vertical gear is attached to the pedal leverage arm so that the vertical gear can mesh with the drive sprocket. A chain on each side of the bicycle extends around the drive gear and a wheel sprocket. Downward movement of a pedal leverage arm causes the attached vertical gear to move downward, causing the meshed drive gear to turn, which causes the drive sprocket spindle on that side of the bicycle to turn, which causes the chain that goes around the drive sprocket on that side of the bicycle to turn, which causes the wheel sprocket and a rear wheel to turn, due to permanent attachment of both the drive sprocket and drive gear to the drive sprocket spindle.

  • Patent number: 7892768
Abstract: A method for detecting or monitoring the presence of protein fragments, cleaved at novel cleaving sites near the N-terminal part of the collagen IX alpha 1 chain, close to the C-terminal part of the NC4 domain, and at the COL3 domain close to the NC3 domain. Neoepitope antibodies against the neoepitopes were created by the cleavages and an epitope in the cleaved N-terminal part of the NC4 domain unique to collagen IX. A diagnostic kit and antibodies useful in carrying out such methods are also presented.

  • Patent number: 7758408
Abstract: A system and method for regulating humidity in an enclosed structure, including an outside humidity sensor; an outside temperature sensor; an inside humidity sensor; an inside temperature sensor; a ventilation system; and a computing unit that receives sensor information from the temperature and humidity sensors, compares sensor information from inside and outside the enclosed structure, and utilizes the comparison of sensor information to generate one or more output signals to control the ventilation system. This ensures that supply ventilation (by outdoor air) is activated only when it is beneficial for the drying of the attic and controls the ventilation so that an acceptable moisture level is ensured with a minimal ventilation rate, resulting in a warmer attic and reduced heat loss during the heating season.

  • Patent number: 7686711
Abstract: A batting swing aid fitting onto the barrel of the bat to assist with hand speed when swinging a bat and having an outer body and an inner body. The inner body has four chamber compartments each of which is filled with an equal amount of shot. As the bat is moved to the proper hitting position the shot travels down the inside chambers to make a swoosh sound at the impact zone. During the proper swing pattern the swoosh sound will be closer and closer to the proper impact zone. The device helps build power, and repeating the swing with the additional weight increases the power of the batter and help create proper batting muscle memory.

  • Patent number: 7621253
Abstract: A novel combustion engine with turbine like properties is disclosed. The novel engine (10) comprises an air intake, a first compressor stage, coupled to the air intake, a second compressor stage, coupled to the first compressor stage, a transfer valve, placed between the compressor stages and an annular race. Within the annular race, toroidal piston travels and passes over the transfer valve. The valve, toroidal piston and race form a temporary combustion chamber that expands as the piston travels within the annular race. Compressed air and fuel are introduced into the temporary combustion chamber and ignited to release the chemical energy and force the turbine piston to travel faster within the annular race. The first compressor stage is rotatably coupled to a crank shaft, which drives the first compressor stage and connects to an armature, which also connects the turbine piston so that useful work can be extracted from the energy released from the combustion of the fuel-air mixture.
