  • Patent number: 5070771
Abstract: A roof ridge ventilator to be installed under a cap shingle includes a one piece cover member of an elongated shape including a pair of flaps, each flap having one upper surface over which cap shingles are secured and also having downwardly facing lower surfaces, a pair of vents respectively secured to the lower surface of the cover member flaps, each vent including at least one set of shielded louvers having a plurality of openings for deflecting air flow while maintaining a minimum free area for air passage such that the air flowing therethrough is substantially reduced in velocity to limit the infiltration of foreign matter. A plurality of longitudinally spaced supports in each vent extend substantially vertically to permit nailing onto the roof such that the vent does not collapse during installation and such that the net free area remains intact.

  • Patent number: 5064478
Abstract: A method for producing a selectively surface hardened cast iron part includes uniformly heating the surface of the part by immersion into a molten metallic bath until a desired thickness of surface austenite is produced, and thereafter quenching the heated cast iron part in a liquid quenching bath which is maintained at a temperature of between about 450.degree. to about 800.degree. F. for about 10 minutes to about 4 hours. The resultant selectively surface hardened cast iron part is surface hardened with the bulk of the body of the part remaining untempered. An apparatus for performing this process includes a molten metal bath chamber for containing the molten metal and a molten salt bath quenching chamber for quenching the cast iron parts with a conveyor means extending between the molten metal bath and the molten salt bath chambers. A second conveyor means removes the parts from the molten salt bath chamber.

  • Patent number: 5052052
Abstract: A protective suite to protect a skater against injuries caused by falling during skating which has interior flap-type pockets designed to hold removable compressible padding inserts at areas susceptible to falling injuries. The pockets have a pocket body and an opening and are attached to the suit while inverted so that the opening is exposed to receive a compressible padding insert such that, when the pocket is flipped down, the pocket openign is between the pocket body and the portion of the suit to which the pocket is attached, thereby holding the compressible insert therein without allowing the compressible insert to slip upward and out of the pocket, yet allowing for removal of the compressible insert so that the protective suit may be washed without the insert in place.

  • Patent number: 5050489
Abstract: A roof ventilator (10) comprises a contoured, substantially rounded cover member (12) including a nailing tab and flange configuration to allow use of the ventilator on roofs and roof ridges of different angles and pitches. A vent (14) is located in the cover member (12), and the vent has openings (16) to permit air circulation through the roof or roof ridge, and includes weepage openings (24) at the bottom of the vent to permit any collected liquids to drain therethrough. The shape of the vent is designed to deflect air flow over the roof ventilator, thereby substantially preventing foreign particle entry through the roof ventilator into the building.
