    Abstract: Resin emulsions are prepared by forming an emulsion of an aqueous solution of an unsaturated material reactive with the resin in the liquid resin, causing the material and the resin to react and adding sufficient water to invert the emulsion to form an emulsion of the reacted resin in water to produce emulsions with improved mechanical stability useful as tackifiers in water-based pressure-sensitive adhesive coating materials in high speed coating lines giving reduced deposits and extended coating times.

    Abstract: The invention relates to certain low friction abrasion resistant polymer coatings. The polymer coatings consist of thermoplastic materials based on blends of elastomers with high density polyethylene comprising a high molecular weight component. The appropriate balance of crystallinity, durability and flexibility can be achieved by selecting the proper amount of low, medium and high molecular weight high density polyethylene. The coating is particularly useful for weatherstripping material for automobile window channels.

    Abstract: This invention provides a process for preparing a heat shrinkable film by extruding a blend of elastomer, hydrocarbon oil and polyolefin to form a film, stretch orienting the film to form a stretched film, annealing the stretched film while still under stress, then cooling while further maintaining stress on the film. This invention further provides a process for preparing an elasticized composite material by attaching strips of the heat shrinkable film to a flexible substrate and then heating the composite.

    Abstract: Composite breathable film comprising a breathable polyolefin film heat laminated to a nonwoven HDPE fabric. Preferably, the breathable film is prepared by melt embossing a highly filled polyolefin film to impose a pattern of different film thickness therein, and stretching the embossed film. The nonwoven fabric is made by cross-laminating HDPE fibers at the crossing points to form a thin open mesh fabric, and coextruding a heat seal layer thereon. The composite is made by heat laminating the breathable film to the heat seal layer of the fabric. The resulting laminate has excellent water vapor transmissibility, air resistance and strength and is particularly adapted for use as a housewrap.
