Abstract: A system and method for measuring streaming potential, conductivity and permeability of a porous sample, such as a plug of fibrous material, in which a test electrolytic solution, such as a neutral dilute salt solution, is flowed through a flow cell containing the sample. The test solution, and a treatment solution whose effect on the sample is to be measured, are flowed through the flow cell as a series of liquid spurts. The system includes a plurality of solenoid valves which are controlled by a computer in accordance with a software program.

Abstract: The invention provides stable, substantially anhydrous, transparent, gelled cosmetic compositions useful for the preparation of deodorant and antiperspirant sticks which are substantially free of lower, aliphatic, monohydroxy alcohols. The compositions contain dibenzylidene monosorbitol acetal as a gelling agent and are stabilized by the presence of an inorganic base.

Abstract: Oral compositions containing a gastroprotective amount of zirconium aluminum glycinate, aluminum chlorohydrate or a mixture thereof are disclosed. A method for protecting the gastric mucosa against injury caused by a gastric irritant such as NSAIDs is also disclosed.
Abstract: Sunscreen compositions which are waterproof and have high-SPF values comprise a water insoluble film-forming polymer, a polyoxypropylene ether of straight or branched chain alcohol (the emollient/solvent) and a sunscreen component containing at least one UVB type sunscreen and/or at least one UVA type sunscreen in a topical vehicle, preferably in the form of an alcoholic gel. In particular, the combination of a polyoxyalkylene ether of a straight or branched chain alcohol, a carboxylated acrylic copolymer and a sunscreen agent yields waterproof, high-SPF compositions.
Abstract: Oral compositoins containing a gastroprotective amount of zirconium-aluminum glycinate, aluminum chlorohydrate or a mixture thereof are disclosed. A method for protecting the gastric mucosa against injury caused by a gastric irritant such as NSAIDs is also disclosed.
Abstract: A two part oxidation dyeing method for human hair is provided together with a composition therefor in which both parts are relatively fluid until mixed, after which the combination becomes viscous and can be applied to hair.
