  • Patent number: 7394797
Abstract: The admissibility of periodic traffic to a wireless medium can be estimated using a measurement report format that includes a field indicating the number of bins for a predetermined channel of the wireless medium that were busy during a measurement period, and a field indicating the number of bins for the predetermined channel of the wireless medium that were idle during the measurement period. Additionally, the measurement report format includes a field indicating the granularity in multiples of slot times of the wireless medium and a plurality of Bin Density fields, such that one Bin Density field indicates a density of medium time that the wireless medium is busy, and at least one other Bin Density field indicates a distribution of idle time after the wireless medium was busy for time 0 slots.

  • Patent number: 7394813
Abstract: Systems and methods for implementing an acknowledgement mechanism for transmission of a real-time data stream from a sending system to a receiving system are disclosed. An exemplary method implemented in a sending system involves establishing a connection with a receiving system for transmitting a real-time data stream to the receiving system. The method also involves transmitting a current segment of the real-time data stream to the receiving system. If an acknowledgement of the current segment is not received from the receiving system during a predetermined time period, the method also involves discontinuing any retransmission attempts for the current segment and transmitting a next segment to the receiving system.

  • Patent number: 7384067
Abstract: The present invention relates to a new type of safety system that is designed to protect a vehicle occupant during a rollover crash. The safety system will generally include a vehicle seat and a sensor. The sensor is designed to sense the occurrence of a rollover crash. The safety system also includes a support member that has an undeployed mode and a deployed mode. The support member converts from the undeployed mode into the deployed mode when a signal is received from the sensor indicating a rollover. The support member will generally be housed within the vehicle seat when the support member is in the undeployed mode. The support member is also anchored to the floor pan of the vehicle. When the support member is deployed into the deployed mode, the support member is disposed in effective engagement with the vehicle roof to limit movement of the roof toward the vehicle seat during rollover conditions.

  • Patent number: 7374204
Abstract: A new type of airbag inflator that may be used in an airbag system is disclosed. The inflator will generally include a housing and two initiators. Accordingly, the inflator is a “dual-stage” inflator. The two stages are disposed within the housing. The second initiator is disposed within a second stage generant cup. A cap is also used to engage the second stage cup. The cap maintains seated engagement with the second stage cup, even during deployment of the second stage. The second stage will also include one or more perforations, which constitute openings through which gas may flow. When the second initiator is in the unactuated state, these perforations will be isolated from the generant by the cap. Actuation of the second initiator unseals the one or more perforations but does not unseat the cap from the cup, due to constraints put in place to prevent such unseating.

  • Patent number: 7375861
Abstract: A method and apparatus for preventing persons from leaving original documents in a document copier. A document is scanned by a document copier to produce a stored image thereof. Prior to producing any copies of the document, it is determined whether the document has been removed from the document copier. Producing any copies of the document is withheld unless it is determined that the document has been removed from the document copier. Alternatively, the stored image of the document may be examined to determine whether it includes selected information. If the stored image of the document includes the selected information, producing any copies of the document is withheld unless it is determined that the document has been removed from the document copier.

  • Patent number: 7376538
Abstract: An exemplary method involves a remote control agent establishing a remote control session with another computer system. In response to the remote control session being established, the remote control agent requests that a monitoring component provide information about activity on the computer system during the remote control session. The monitoring component may be a process monitoring component, a file monitoring component, and/or another type of monitoring component. A logging component creates a log. The monitoring component provides the requested information, and the logging component records the information from the monitoring component in the log.

  • Patent number: 7370884
Abstract: An airbag inflator diffusion system having a thin profile. The diffusion system includes an airbag inflator that is inserted into a sleeve. The sleeve has overlapping longitudinal edges positioned so that the sleeve tightly circumscribes the inflator. Engagement tabs are formed in one longitudinal edge of the sleeve and fold through perforations formed adjacent the other longitudinal edge. Upon activation of the inflator, the sleeve expands radially forming an exhaust passage through which exhaust gas may travel. The folded engagement tabs and their corresponding perforations limit the radial expansion of the sleeve.

  • Patent number: 7360343
Abstract: A raised access floor has panels suspended by pedestals. Each panel may have a top surface and a frame extending around the top surface. Each panel may have extruded aluminum components including four edge members, two intermediate members, and a center member. Each edge member may have a frame portion with a box beam configuration. The frame portions can be press-fitted with corner members to provide the frame. Two edge members, the intermediate members, and the center member may have top surface portions coupled together to form the top surface. The top surface may be supported by support ribs with enlarged bottom ends that resist bending. The ends of the support ribs are press-fitted against the frame. Components may be modified or removed to alter the panel geometry. A cover plate may be used to cover the top surface. The cover plate and/or top surface may be continuous or perforated.

  • Patent number: 7356578
Abstract: A system for determining a spanning tree for a computer network is disclosed. The system includes a computing device and a computer-readable medium. The computer-readable medium is part of the computing device or is in electronic communication with the computing device. The computer-readable medium comprises executable instructions for implementing a method for determining the spanning tree for the computer network. Multicast alias domains from the computer network are discovered. The discovery of communication metrics by the multicast alias domains is coordinated. The communication metrics from the multicast alias domains are determined. A minimum spanning tree for the computer network is constructed by using the communication metrics. The minimum spanning tree is stored and used in computer system administration.

  • Patent number: 7349113
Abstract: A system for printing a book through use of booklet ganging is disclosed. The system includes a computer connected to a printer. A document is accessible on the computer and is compatible with an application running on the computer. The system includes a software component that is configured to obtain a style configuration after a print command has been executed by the application. The style configuration includes an indication of whether the document is to be ganged. The style configuration is not obtained by the application. The software component gangs booklets based on the style configuration if the indication indicates that the document is to be ganged. The book is then printed through use of the booklet ganging.

  • Patent number: 7347444
Abstract: An inflatable side airbag apparatus having a thorax cushion and an independently inflatable overlapping high pressure pelvic cushion is disclosed. The airbag system provides for rapid deployment of the pelvic cushion. The thorax cushion inflates adjacent to and provides impact protection for an occupant's thorax and pelvis in a lateral collision. The pelvic cushion inflates between the thorax cushion and the side structure of the vehicle and provides impact protection for the occupant's pelvis. The airbag system also includes an inflator having a gas guide that is in fluid communication with both cushions, and inflates the pelvic cushion to a higher pressure than the thorax cushion. The thorax cushion further includes a diffuser hood for diverting inflation gas toward the pelvic region of the cushion, thereby rapidly positioning the pelvic cushion in its intended deployment position.

  • Patent number: 7343486
Abstract: The present invention extends to methods and systems for providing a seamless user interface to one or more web-based external systems and applications that monitor and control access to information, products, and/or services provided by such web-based external systems. Accordingly, the methods and systems enable a user to utilize a single web-based graphical user interface to access external systems with minimal input from the user. Further, the invention coordinates the log-on, log-out, and time-out of the user from the external systems so that user has a seamless on-line experience. The user remains logged into each of the external systems so long as the user is logged into a main system and can log out of all the external systems by logging out of the main system. In addition, the user is not timed out of any external system unless the user is timed out of the main system.
