The object of the present invention is to provide a medication delivery system that combines compactness with an improved accuracy.

    Abstract: A cartridge (1) for an injection device carries a code represented by a number of bars (2, 3, 4, 5) mainly perpendicular to the axis of the cartridge. The bars (2, 3, 4, 5) are mainly transparent and are each along its whole length provided with an optical grating which diffracts and reflects light impinging the surface carrying the code so that a minor part of this light is reflected from the surface of the bar as a set of light beams of which beams at least one is detected for the indication of the presence of the bar when said bar passes a reading light field. The reflections from the bars may be interpreted as representing “1”s and “0”s in a binary code.

    Abstract: Described is a dose setting limiter for medical injectors of the type having a housing accommodating an ampoule-containing medicine sufficient for a number of dosed injections, a rotary dose setting knob, which is rotational relative to the housing and by which doses may be set by rotating the dose setting knob and an injection button which, when activated, administers the set dose. The dose setting limiter includes a stationary first part connected to the housing, and a second part fitted over the rotary dose setting knob, the second part being able to rotate together with the dose setting knob when setting up a dose and the second part being rotational relative to the first part. A third part is placed between the first part and the second part, the third part having means cooperating with means on the second part for limiting the dose setting.

    Abstract: A medication delivery device comprising a container containing a fluid medicament. The medicament is expelled from the container by moving forward an elastomeric piston inside the cartridge. The piston is moved forward by a telescopic piston rod, which can either be centrally located in the container or eccentric located. One end of the telescopic piston rod abuts the elastomeric piston either by itself or through an additional plate. The abutment having a friction large enough to prevent a lower part of the telescopic rod from rotating. In order to prevent the elastomeric piston from rotating inside the container a second telescopic piston rod is provided parallel with the first telescopic piston rod.

The inserter shaft (5) has one end adjacent to the peg (3) and the other connected to the guiding head (6) which projects from the cassette. The head (6) fits into the second bore with a fitting providing a diffusion tight sealing and the distal end of the unit is closed by a membrane diffusion tightly sealing this distal end.

    Abstract: A flexible piston rod for an injection device, which piston has the form of a helical spring made from a number of narrowly adjacent turns of windings. These turns provide an external thread fitting into the internal thread of a nut element. When the nut element is rotated, the piston rod is advanced forward, which movement is used to displace a piston inside a cartridge containing a fluid to be expelled. In order to prevent the piston rod from rotating when the nut element is rotated, the helical spring making up the piston rod is provided with a longitudinal spine, which is located at a peripheral area of the helical spring.
