  • Patent number: 8323165
Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, and methods for forming a Bliss-type container having main portion with side and bottom flaps and a side support portion. Systems can include a mandrel movably mounted on a path, a hopper providing the side support portion, a feeder providing the main portion, and a folding assembly configured to fold the side flaps over the support portion. The systems may further include a plurality of plows and compression plates for bending side panels of the main portion, the side support portion, and the bottom flaps over the mandrel. Methods can include moving a mandrel forward along a path inside a machine, engaging the side support portion on a first side of the mandrel, and engaging a bottom panel of the main portion on a front of the mandrel such that an edge of the support portion is aligned against said bottom panel. Side panels of the main portion may be bent over opposing sides of the mandrel which are generally perpendicular to the first side of the mandrel.

  • Patent number: 8322087
Abstract: Modular landscape borders can include curb and planter sections, and adjacent modular borders can engaged to each other via coupling members. The curb section can include channels for receiving electrical and/or irrigational devices. The curb section can include a face having openings for receiving illumination devices and/or irrigation devices. The planter section can include irrigation drainage and a conduit for receiving irrigation tubing and/or for distributing irrigation water. Openings can be provided for receiving retaining spikes for securing the modular border to the ground. Supporting structures can provide rigidity and/or structural support to the curb and/or the planter. The modular border may include partition lines for division into smaller partitions.

  • Patent number: 8232474
Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods for securing one or more wires or cables relative to a conduit, for example, an underground conduit, an above ground conduit, or a conduit disposed in a building. The inhibiting device can hinder or prevent the removal of such wires or cables from the conduit by compressing the wires or cables between a clamp and a portion of the inhibiting device and/or conduit at a location that is not co-axial with a central axis of the conduit. As a result, a resistive frictional load is applied to the wires or cables which has a vector generally parallel and opposite to a removal force and a vector generally perpendicular to the removal force. In some embodiments, the inhibiting device can include a bolt, fabric, nylon, polymer, or compression type clamp. In some embodiments, a system can include a plurality of clamps which are transversely and axially separated.

  • Patent number: 7901546
Abstract: The present invention includes systems, methods and apparatus for continuously, independently and in some cases remotely monitoring the operation of a current interrupter used to test a cathodic protection system, or the cathodic protection system itself, for verification of proper operation. Embodiments of the invention include electronic devices that may be temporarily attached to a current interrupter that is being used to test a cathodic protection system, or directly to the cathodic protection system itself. Embodiments of the invention monitor the activity of an interrupter by sampling the output (voltage and time) to identify the cycle(s) of the interrupter. The invention provides truly independent verification since it does not need to know in advance the sequence or cycle times of the current interrupter being monitored. The information obtained by the invention is output so that it may be provided to a user, displayed, downloaded or stored for future reference.

  • Patent number: 7694424
Abstract: Methods, apparatuses, and systems for advertising on a first-down measurement device in an American-style football game are disclosed. An apparatus may include an information display and a sleeve for engaging the information display with a portion of the first-down measurement device. A method may include fixing an advertisement to a material and engaging the material with a portion of a first-down measuring device. A system may include a sideline marker for marking a position of a playing field, a measuring device connected to the sideline marker, an information display, and a sleeve for engaging the information display with the sideline marker or the measuring device. First-down measurement devices containing the information display of the present invention may also be used in simulated American-style football games in which first-down measurements are displayed, such as video game(s).
