  • Patent number: 8317749
Abstract: A method of enabling administration of a drug includes determining, within a drug-transfer device including cells, a location of at least one cell and generating information identifying the determined location. A user may be provided with the drug-transfer device. The drug is retained within the at least one cell when the user is provided with the drug-transfer device. The method also includes encoding a key with the information and providing the user with the key before, after or when the user is provided with the drug-transfer device. Drug retained within the at least one cell is selectively releasable when the key is operably proximate to the drug-transfer device and is encoded with the information. The key can be encoded with the information before and/or after being provided to the user. In some embodiments, the key is encoded based on instructions transmitted over a network.

  • Patent number: 8320316
Abstract: A method for accelerating network accessing of a terminal in a wireless communication system, comprises: a wireless terminal receiving system parameter information, and after obtaining system information of a base station identifier (BS ID) and a network access provider identifier (NAP ID), immediately judging validity of the NAP ID, or validity of both the NAP ID and the BS ID; if a result of the judgment is “valid”, the terminal proceeding to a subsequent procedure of the network discovery and selection according to information stored in the terminal, otherwise, carrying out a new procedure of network discovery and selection. The method avoids continuing to perform processes such as message receiving and decoding in the case that a NAP ID or a BS ID is invalid according to a procedure in the current protocol, thereby increasing the speed of network accessing of a terminal.

  • Patent number: 8313209
Abstract: A multi-power source is described that provides power through a single source—e.g. rechargeable batteries—whose charge is maintained through four or more different power sources. Examples of such power sources are taken from a group consisting of disposable batteries, mechanical energy as developed through a crank, solar power, an external DC source such as provided through a car battery connection, and an external AC input as from an in-wall outlet. The power source is used to power an emergency multifunction tool, such as a modular light source having a flashlight, lantern, siren, flasher, and radio functions powered from the multi-power source.

  • Patent number: 8315905
Abstract: Two directional data exchange between a mobile navigation system and a listing system enables pricing models and analytics that are responsive to trips initiated in response to location based listings on the navigation system. The data exchange may include information to present the listing to the user, track whether the user elected to begin navigating to the destination based on that listing, intermediate status as the user progresses towards the destination, and an indication that the user arrived at the location. The data may be used to evaluate the effectiveness of the listing in bringing customers to a physical location associated with the listing. The data may be applied in a performance-based pricing model by which pricing for the listing is based in full or in part on the number of trips initiated and/or completed as a result of the listing.

  • Patent number: 8315693
Abstract: Techniques for determining whether one or more leads are not adequately connected to a patient, e.g., for ECG monitoring, are described. The techniques involve injection of an integrated signal (which includes a test signal) into one lead, and monitoring the driven lead and the response at the other leads, including the common mode and the difference between the other leads. These “lead-off” detection techniques may be provided by an external defibrillator that provides three-wire ECG monitoring. Techniques for determining a type of a cable coupled to a defibrillator are also described. The cable-type identification may allow a defibrillator to, for example, operate in either a three-wire ECG monitoring mode or a therapy mode, based on whether a three-wire ECG cable or a defibrillation cable is coupled to the defibrillator.

  • Patent number: 8311754
Abstract: Methods and mechanisms for processing a plurality of electrical parameters of a common alternating current service that supplies power for multiple electrical devices. In an embodiment, an instance data structure is identified based on a data set which is generated from samples of an alternating current service, the instance data structure corresponding to an on-off cycle of an electrical device. Based on the instance data structure, a contribution by the on-off cycle is subtracted from the data set to determine a residual data set. In another embodiment, the residual data set is processed to determine whether the residual data set includes a contribution by an on-off cycle of another electrical device.

  • Patent number: 8300125
Abstract: A method and apparatus for using TFT transistors or MIS capacitors as light-sensing elements in charge mapping arrays. A bias stress may be applied to a plurality of pixels in a charge map array. As a result, charge carriers may be trapped in each of the plurality of pixels responsive to the bias stress, which may be observed as a value shift such as a threshold voltage VT shift. Light may then be transmitted toward the plurality of pixels in the charge map array causing some of the pixels to absorb the light. The trapped charge carriers are released in the pixels that absorbed the light and not released in the pixels that did not absorb the light. The value shift in each of the pixels can be compared to determine which of the pixels absorbed the light.
